BOGA at Underhill's Games

If you love to play boardgames and live in the Akron, OH area, this group is for you! Founded in September 2007, we're a friendly group of people who play all kinds of boardgames. Anyone that loves playing games is welcome whether you've been playing for years or are interested in just trying it out. Underhill's Games in Cuyahoga Falls has graciously agreed to host for us on the 2nd Friday of every month from 5pm - 2am (or later if still going strong at that time) and the 4th Saturday of every month from noon - 11pm. The Saturday BOGA is new as of Januray 22, 2011! The store is big with plenty of open gaming space and has snacks and drinks available. Plus there's a McDonalds next door and Subway 100 yards away if snacking just won't cut it. The store also has a large selection of demo copies of games that we can play. You do not need to bring anything, but you may want to bring your favorite game and a little cash for some food and drinks. There's no entry fee. So just mark your calendar and join us for our next meeting! If you like designing or playtesting new games, please check out the Design and Prototype Committee. The DaP Committee helps non-digital game designer’s develop quality prototype board games by the sharing of design information and providing playtest opportunities. DaP meetings are held on the third Friday of every month at 7pm at Underhill’s Games. Visit the Underhill's Games website for directions. Also, visit our guild on BoardGameGeek. Tell all your friends! See you there.

I am working on a project with cable television host Dennis Gauge of the show My Classic Car to develop the My Classic Car Board Game. Before taking the game to METATOPIA 2012, I would like to get some plays in with BOGA. Is anyone interested in playing the prototype on Friday night?

At its heart, it is an area control game. Mechanically the game takes an innovative spin on action point allowance and variable phase order. Other game mechanics include auctions, set collection, card drafting and trading.

    Back of the box description:

Antiques, classics, muscle cars, sports cars, hot rods and rat rods - can you become the most prestigious automobile collector by buying, selling, restoring, showing and racing these unique cars? All these actions take time, and there is only so much time before the regional and national car shows come to an end. Can you maximize your choices to improve your collection and earn the most prestige points at each show to win the game?

How long does the game take to play?

Awesome! A full game takes under two hours once familiar with the rules. Having said that, if you want to quit prior to completion that would be fine. I would just appreciate getting to present the rules and get some feedback.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
