I love to go to museums and attend conferences on sustainable global development. I also love, love, love to go to authentic ethnic restaurants. Found a great Afghan or Cambodian restaurant? I'm there! I'm a fan of global music too, especially spanish guitar, fado, Cape Verde etc.
With my work, I am bombarded by amazing ideas for global change, from the local: organic urban farming, improving NYC schools, etc to global: planting trees for civic education, micro-finance for women, etc. I would love to have a smart group of women with whom to discuss. I'm not talking about fundraising, because I give money away, I don't raise it, but I am talking about doing well by doing good. I would be able to offer a laundry list of really neat things I'd like a group of women to do with me in the city. Next up...a tour of some ethnic restaurants in Queens.
Most of my career has been in corporate social responsibility and communications. I've traveled globally, including many underdeveloped countries and many places most people don't go. I've been a guest speaker at Northwestern and Harvard. I write blog postings for Stanford Social Innovation Review. I am most happy when I am able to brighten other people's day. I gave a guy from Ghana $5 in the Dallas airport last week because it was his first time to this country and didn't realize lunch at the airport would cost so much.
Hello! I am Social Responsibility Director at Alcoa Foundation, funding environmental projects globally. I'd love to attend and offer recommendations for events, etc.
