I saw this photo, and I've seen some from members of the meetup, where the light seems to "naturally" fall on one specific area of the photo...everywhere else is slightly darker. I love the effect this has on this particular photo, and I was wondering how one does that? Is it done post production?...vignetting tool?

It's most likely in post. You can do auto vignetting in some aps or burn by hand.
I used it here. ![]() |

The flickr image is definitely a post-production vignetting. In software's like Lightroom or Aperture it's a very easy setting.
There is the way in lighting to also use the zoom of you flash to more direct your lighting. In the old-days, we'd use black mask in front of our lens and by varying the distance control the type of vignette you wanted. Now it's very simple to do in post-production. Though, your sample Flickr image is more a burn type of effect, then a straight vignette; notice how the lights's only darker on the top right and bottom left. This leads me to think of a simple burning in on those areas. -jeff |
