Exciting news for the Click Monkey's! It looks like I have a very special opportunity for the Click Monkey's group. One of the models "Rachel Echelberger" from this season of Americas Next Top model is from Woodland and has agreed to do a shoot with us before she moves to LA in November to pursue her modeling career. Tyra Banks personally selected her for the show. She has already been eliminated which allows her to work with us. I know it's very last minute but with her schedule that couldn't be helped. Sorry. This could prove to be an amazing opportunity for you. The shoot will be kept to only 10 photographers. She is getting 2 other model friends to be photographed also. Some of the outfits will be supplied by Rockin' Bones clothing. Show links. http://www.cwtv.com/ thecw/gen-gallery-an tm13-models/12/3 Happy Clicking! Tim 916-996-9743

After many requests, we are doing this workshop again. Times are tough. Who has hundreds or thousands of dollars to spend on expensive studio lighting? Not me! Money should never be the limiting factor in creating great images. What if I told you that you could shoot professional level images with lighting that costs just $100? It's true and I am doing it today. I will show you what items to purchase, where to get them, and how to use them. These are techniques I have been refining for many years. 90% of my images are shot with lighting that cost me under $100. I have made the mistakes so you don't have to.
We will work on assembling and shooting with this type of lighting setup as well. You will have the opportunity to shoot with this system in order to see what it can do. We will have models available as subjects to help demonstrate the lighting capabilities. This event will be the first of several on the "Budget Studio" series. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Happy Clicking! Tim 916-996-9743

This shoot will be very small, only 5 photographers and a professional model. The location is a million dollar home in Granite Bay. It has an amazing pool with waterfall and beautiful yard. Each photographer will have a chance to work one on one with the model. We will also work with the group on creating various lighting setups.

Low light photography can be a lot of fun. And you don’t need to trade your soul for an expensive camera to do it. You just need to have one that has some manual setting options. I’m focusing on digital here, but I think most of what I’m going to talk about will apply to film cameras too. The only real difference is that with digital you get to view your results instantly, which allows you to adjust your settings on the fly and you can switch ISO without changing your roll of film. OK, so before we get started there’s a few things you’re going to need. Here’s a list: * Camera
 * Tripod
 * Flashlight
 * Remote shutter release (this is optional if you have a timer on your camera)
 What’s the flashlight for? Well, it’s for two things. The most important function is for focusing. If you’re shooting in extreme low light conditions you’re going to need some light for your autofocus to work, especially if you’re using a point & shoot camera that won’t allow manual focusing. Even if you have the option to focus manually, you might still need the light to see whether or not your focus is sharp. It’s easy to be close and still be out of focus when its dark. The flashlight is also for painting with light. This is a lot of fun. You can use a flashlight, a laser pointer, a hand held flash fired manually, basically anything that emits light. I like using a mini Maglite for still life subjects. One of the things I like about the Maglites is that you can adjust the beam diameter from a tight focused spot to a soft wide glow. The River Cats have a game that night. It might be interesting to shoot with the stadium lights. Then see what strikes us and shoot. We will meet downtown with the exact location to be determined by how many members attend. See you soon and Happy Clicking! After many requests I have set up a glamour & beauty shoot. I have found the perfect model for this shoot. A friend of mine Betsy is coming to Sacramento from Portland to work with the Click Monkey's the week of the May 18th. http://www.modelmayh em.com/Betzu This will cover glamour photography basics and fundamentals. Available for beginner to emerging pro photographers, we will offer over 3 hours of lighting, posing, instruction & demonstration. Also lots of in-studio photo shoot time for everyone with our guest pro glamour model. I will be showing some of my techniques for this type of photography. Our model, Betsy is an amazing beauty! She knows the camera and how best to pose for the shot you want. She will be here all week and agreed to also do a few individual shoots with any photographers interested. Let me know if you are interested. The shoot will start at 5:00 last about 5 hours. In order to maintain the quality of this shoot, I am going to limit this shoot to 10 photographers. The location of this shoot will be in studio in Old town Sacramento. Model Release included. Payment due at time of RSVP. Please e-mail me with any questions.

This is the second in a series of lighting workshops. This workshop will cover the fundamentals of portrait lighting, both on-location and in the studio. We'll work on getting the best results using a variety of equipment, from portable, affordable speedlights to professional quality studio strobes. Topics include: "building your light" - starting with a simple one light setup, and building to more complex 3-5 light scenarios How to create flattering light for any subject (choosing the right light and modifier for your subject) Lighting styles, patterns and ratios Light modifiers (a variety of equipment will be discussed and available to try out, from a 22" beauty dish to a 4' x 6' softbox) working in the studio and on-location (differences in equipment and approach how to get the most from your model - posing, technique, rapport lighting and posing individuals, couples and groups building your business - how to get started and build a successful portrait business Image/portfolio review - we will have an optional 2 hour review session 1-2 weeks after the class on a weeknight where participants will be able to submit images they made during (or after) the workshop for critique and review. Link to Paypal payment page (please submit payment within 24 hours of RSVP - thanks!) We'll have a number of models to work with (in typical Click Monkeys' fashion, the photographer to model ratio will be very low, so you'll have plenty of time to work with each model, and you'll have the opportunity to "make your own" shot instead of just ending up with the same thing as everyone else). And, as always when we're working with models we'll have professional hair and makeup artists. There will be lots of hands-on shooting time and you'll get a great start to a solid portrait portfolio. The models will all sign full model releases. The class will be taught by a professional wedding and portrait photographer who has worked as an instructor and teacher for over twenty years. To get the most out of this class, you'll need a good understanding of basic camera operation - aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. The class will not cover any of these basic topics. You do not need to have attended the introduction to lighting workshop - this class will cover all new material with very little overlap.
