Come join us for some fun, energetic, hilarious, and friendly rope climbing! It doesn't matter what grade you are currently climbing at, I encourage and support every climber no matter if it's a 5.6 or 5.13+++, top rope or lead.
This meetup is open to EVERYONE that has passed their belay test. You do not need to bring your own belayer with you to this meetup. I will help everyone get paired up accordingly if needed. Safety and fun are my top priorities. If you do not like your belayer, just let me know and i will find you someone else or i'll personally belay you =) If you are not having fun, then let me know whats wrong and i will do my best to ensure you have the time of your life! If you have never attended one of our meetups before, dont be shy, we are a group of very friendly climbers and just let me know and i will introduce you to everyone and make sure you have a great time and meet lots of new friends!
The goal of this meetup is to encourage everyone to climb anything and everything you want and just have lots and lots of fun!! We will help each other by watching each other techniques or styles and give advice to help you send your route/problem! Just pick a route you like or looks like fun, and we will all motivate, encourage, shout beta, and cheer you on as you climb!! It doesn't matter how long it takes you, how many takes/rests you need, how many times u fall, how pumped your arms are feeling, how sweaty you get, how much your feet hurt because your shoes are so tight, etc.
We will also probably go for dinner/drinks after everyone is tired and can't climb anymore and talk about all our wicked crazy clean sends of the evening!!
This meetup is for those that have passed their belay test. If you have not climbed at a Cliffhanger location before, you will be required to take their Belay Test. In order to pass their belay test, you will need to have previously taken a belay course at a climbing gym, or have equivalent experience. If you need to do a belay test, please let me know and i can be your partner if needed (TR and/or LEAD).
Also, please keep our safety and liability policy in mind. RSVP'ing yes to this meetup implies that you read and understood our terms.
Please check the Cliffhanger Vancouver website for information about their fees (there are discounts for first time visitors!).
If you have been climbing with our group regularly, you may want to contribute to the costs of keeping this page active (Joe pays almost $20 a month). Nobody will ask you to pay, but it would be nice to show your support to your group by paying the $5 annual membership fee (it's a bargain really!).
To become a VRCG member is very simple :)
1) Carefully Read and Sign the Safety Waiver that can be attained by clicking this link
2) Pay the $5.00 Annual Fee which is a great way to support all the amazing projects at VRCG and to receive our amazing and ever-growing list of benefits.
3) Get a membership card from Organizers at these events.
You can give the signed waivers and money to the Organizers on the day of any meetups you are attending. There is also PayPal if you would rather pay that way :)
I'll be waiting at the front benches !!
