Steam Into History Bike Ride - NCR & YCH Rail Trails

Where: Whitehall, MD - New Freedom, PA

Cost: Pay As You Go

Description: Bike Ride the Northern Central Railroad and York County Heritage Rail Trails, scenic partly shaded, 10 foot wide crushed stone dust surface laid on a level railroad bed. Some small hills. From 1838 to 1972 the Northern Central RR connected Baltimore with York, PA. Park and begin ride at Whitehall MD. Ride to New Freedom PA, 10 mile ride up and 10 mile back. Stop for lunch about 12:30 in New Freedom. Steam into History Celebration: www.SteamintoHistory.com. Directions:

Carpool from the H.S. Truman P&R, where you will receive travel and trail maps, sign waivers. Please check bikes, tires, equipment to bring before you leave home. Medical insurance card, photeo ID, medical conditions, med info, emergency contact and phone. HELMETS REQUIRED. Eye protection, Water, snack energy bars. Bring cellphone. List Leaders cell phone numbers and others you may need. PLEASE CALL OR USE MEETUP TO SIGN IN FOR THIS TRIP.

This will be Yorks own Train, York #17. Much History NCRR and the Civil War in York County. Weekend of June 21-23 is the 150th anniversary of the Confederte invasion of York and the Battle of Gettysburg.
