I wanted to get a group together to start a Community Manager meet up in London - something similar to the community manager meet ups which run in the US - with regular events, speakers and time to chat and network.
For the first event let's just get together and chat about what we want to do - a Christmas social to meet others and catch up. We can discuss speakers for the first event and how we see the meet ups running. It would be great to have a steering group to help organise and run the events.
Please do suggest a good date and venue.

Great to see everyone, I hope we can get a lovely community going here! Lots of ideas for future meet ups :-) thanks Hannah, Laura (and anyone else who I might have missed off) for organising!
Posted by Charlie Duff December 16, 2011 at 10:04 AMI second that!
Posted by Elana Zak December 16, 2011 at 10:23 AMThanks to everyone for coming! Lots of ideas in store for first event. Watch out for details in the New Year.
Posted by Hannah Waldram December 15, 2011 at 11:49 PMYay!
Posted by Charlie Duff December 16, 2011 at 10:04 AMHi guys, we have a location! Sorry to leave it so late - who'd have thunk finding a venue on the second Thursday before Christmas in central London would be difficult?
Posted by Hannah Waldram December 6, 2011 at 5:13 PMThanks for all the suggestions - tried quite a few places and all were fully booked, but the Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell have reserved us a small space from 7pm on Thursday 15 December - and many other venues were up for giving us space in the New Year.

Farringdon is the nearest tube.
Woop! Love their website. Although the name is a bit... I'm sure it's lovely!
Posted by Charlie Duff December 6, 2011 at 5:18 PM@Charlie, indeed - although I have it on good authority despite the name it is lovely inside.
Posted by Hannah Waldram December 6, 2011 at 5:22 PMWhat does the Adam and Eve pub get like on a Thursday night in December - any ideas? Or alternatively there's The Social (but would have to get there early enough before the hip hop karaoke starts downstairs). One venue that's *always* quiet after work (but dingy) is The Roxy.
Posted by Ruby Heera November 30, 2011 at 5:19 PMThanks for the suggestions Ruby - will have a look into this. Tried the Star of Kings but they were full on that day, so was the Blue Lion - will check out these venues and get back to everyone. Also had a suggestion of the King & Queen on Foley Street - so will try these places.
Posted by Hannah Waldram November 30, 2011 at 7:46 PMHopefully I'll be able to make the next one as that's a Christmas party day. Look forward to future meet-ups!

Hi guys,
Going to go with Thursday 15 December as that's when the greatest number of people are free for the first London community manager meet up - we can find out what days are generally good for people on the night.
Now for a venue - thinking of a pub somewhere quite central. Most of the ones I know are around King's Cross/north London. If anyone has any good suggestions do leave a comment.
Great to have so many of you attending so far! Feel free to pass the word around.
Posted by Hannah Waldram November 23, 2011 at 6:22 PMTrying to work out a good time to meet up - let us know when you're free here: http://www.doodle.com/rq9i2...
Posted by Hannah Waldram November 22, 2011 at 12:22 PMWell first meeting is supposed to be to find out what folks want and who's up for helping organise it on a more regular basis - so perhaps more intimate this time around?
Posted by Laura Oliver November 23, 2011 at 5:09 PMAs Laura said Blaise - more of a Christmas social - open to all but hopefully will get a steering group together and be able to find out more about what everyone hopes to get from the meet ups.
