Dave,

How about Tuesday night next week? But I would want to get you together with Frank as well from Cobol mag. He's in the process of setting up Cobol Certs.

Joe,

If we set this up in Prfessor, we could create tests, and at the end some one could actually be 'certified'.

When is a good time to get together?

rgds,

Please skip to the end for full details.

Cobol Study Groups and Tutorials will be run every Thursday at 7pm and Sunday at 2pm.

The site we will be studying is: http://www.csis.ul.ie/cobol/

The first three study groups will be going over The Introduction to Cobol at:
http://www.csis.ul.ie/cobol/Course/Default.htm

So for today's study group please read in full the first link entitled "The Structure of Cobol Programs". The direct link is:
http://www.csis.ul.ie/cobol/Course/COBOLIntro.htm

Our pattern of study will be for each person to read each week's lesson on their own, submit any practice code to the forum, try compiling and testing programs. Then we will meet to discuss our readings and results.

We will have a large focus on Web Based Cobol Development, particularly with OpenCobol (http://opencobol.org ).

Please RSVP for each session, whether you intent to make it or not (yes, no or maybe). If you cannot make it in person (or are remote and would like to join us) please join us via chat (rsvping yes). But in your comments put that you will be joining via Chat.

Chat is at http://bit.ly/add1toChat

All times are Eastern Time Zone USA.
