HackSquad: NASA International Space Apps Challenge!

It's about that time again for the NASA International Space Apps Challenge. We did it big last year and now it's time to represent again. Register for the eventand RSVP to jump on a Code Crew team. More information about the hackathon is below.

About

The International Space Apps Challenge is an international mass collaboration focused on space exploration that takes place over 48-hours in cities around the world. The event embraces collaborative problem solving with a goal of producing relevant open-source solutions to address global needs applicable to both life on Earth and life in space. This year we have 40 challenges and 25 projects from last year's Space Apps that support NASA's mission directorates in five themes: Earth Watch, Technology in Space, Human Spaceflight, Robotics and Asteroids. NASA is leading this global collaboration along with a number of government collaborators and 100+ local organizations.

INTERNATIONAL

The exploration of space is, by necessity, a unified international effort - and diversity of experience and perspective inevitably produces a better product. We are very intentional to make the Space Apps Challenge valuable to and accessible to the international community, and the experience continues to teach us numerous lessons about how to make it more truly international.

SPACE APPS

The Challenge exemplifies the principles of transparency, participation and collaboration by utilizing openly available data, supplied through NASA missions and technology, and the talent and skill of passionate volunteers from around the planet to advance space exploration and improve the quality of life on Earth.

CHALLENGE

The idea of a Challenge is so compelling because it acknowledges the fact that the world is facing serious challenges - and that we all have to work together to approach them. While there are prizes offered for great solutions, the main challenge we focus on is enabling 48 hours of highly engaged collaboration- and discovering what we can create when that happens.

How are the teams set up? Do I just join any random team? I can program in C or Java and I am currently learning Android programming.

Ok awesome. Me too. Probably there around 10.30. Anyone want to form a group? Any interests?

I'll be there around then too. I'll be a bit passive today though as I'll be learning a js framework on the side. Someone feel free to add me to their group keeping that in mind.

What JS framework on you learning/working on?

I just took some meds; I don't think I will make it today, I'm feeling under the weather. But if things change within the next two hours then I'll be there.

I wanted to know if I need to be up for the entirety of the 48 hours or will we have the option to return home and comeback the next day?

Sure, I won't be getting there until a littler later. You can join any team or you can connect with people that connected on this meetup.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
