Code Crew x Codecademy Present: JavaScript/101 (Weekend Bootcamp)

  • Jun 21, 2014 · 10:00 AM

Codecademy and Code Crew introduce JavaScript/101: Build a Dynamic Website Using the Instagram API

Are you an aspiring entrepreneur or developer but have no technical experience? Do you want to figure out how sites like Flickr and Instagram are built?

Learning JavaScript syntax is great, but it only gets you part way to building a product using JavaScript. JavaScript 101, taught in the offices of Codecademy, will help you make that leap to a deployable product under the guidance of an experienced full-stack developer.

After completing this weekend bootcamp, you will walk out the door with a functioning and deployed dynamic website using the Instagram API.

What you’ll learn:

• Starting, building, refining and deploying your app from start to finish

• Understanding JavaScript syntax and core concepts

• Learning key programming concepts such as the use of variables, data types, conditional statements, loops, functions, arrays and objects to build a dynamic program

• Understanding how to use JavaScript to add interactivity to a static website

• Learn about the DOM API how to use traverse it using JavaScript

• Discover best practices and advice on how to take your skills to the next level

• Version control with Git and GitHub

• How use a real text editor to build your site

• How to use JavaScript libraries like jQuery to make working with JavaScript easier

• About Node.js -- the hot new server side framework for JavaScript

• How to deploy our application to the web using Heroku

Who should take this class?

Beginners and anyone that is interested in learning more about programming and how to build web applications.

You will need a Mac or PC...but that's it!
