Global Day of Coderetreat 2013 | Zurich

When Is It?

Global Day of Coderetreat 2013 aka #GDCR13 will take place in (what's most likely to be) over 200 cities worldwide on Saturday, December 14th, 2013 and Zurich is participating in the event for the second time. And we're open for registrations! What are you waiting for?

What Is It?

To put it short, it's a day of fun (aka pair programming) for coders. For details, see the site of the Coderetreat Community Network. Quoting from there:

Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice away from the pressures of 'getting things done', the coderetreat format has proven itself to be a highly effective means of skill improvement.

The coderetreat day consists of 5-6 sessions, each session's learnings building upon previous sessions. The morning focuses on becoming comfortable with the problem domain, breaking old habits and beginning focused self-discovery. The afternoon pushes the envelope by challenging pairs to stretch their skills and understanding of abstractions, modular design and test-driven development.

Sounds like fun? It is!

Been To It?

Don't worry. I can assure you, it's not going to be a tiny bit boring because 1) coderetreats are fun by principle, 2) you'll be pairing with new people and 3) you'll get funky new constraints.

Where Do I Register?

You can register only at zurich.codersonly.org - RSVP-ing here is not sufficient. Hurry up, click the link and fill out the form, as the seats are limited!

Hope to see you there :)

Excellent concept. It was great to meet professional brothers (and sisters) in arms from so many different fields and languages there.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
