Dinner at Chili Secrets (Cash Only)

This fabulous Szechuan restaurant is an experience to remember. The dishes here are unique and memorable. Several dishes come in hot pots, clay pots, or metal stir fry pans. When I was here, I had the spicy bean curd with fish fillet in a hot pot. The dish was served in a metal pot and put top of a portable stove that was brought to my table to keep the dish boiling hot. The dish was definitely big enough for two people. One thing about this restaurant is that some of the dishes that are served in a hot pot may be $14 to $18 but are huge and are meant for two people. So this is a very reasonably priced restaurant. And a word of warning: when there are two chillies next to the dish on the menu, they really do mean that it is spicy. (I had one of those two chilli dishes so I know.) However, I found the flavour very good and the spiciness tolerable. Some dishes are not spicy here, but the spicy stuff is where the restaurant really shines. The atmosphere is very nice here too.

The address of the restaurant is:
Chili Secrets
9021 Leslie St, Unit 9
Richmond Hill, ON L4B 0B2
PH: (905)[masked]

Public transit directions:
TTC subway to Finch Station. Then from Finch Station, take the VIVA Blue bus north to Richmond Hill Centre station. At Richmond Hill Centre Station, transfer to the VIVA Purple bus east and get off at Leslie St. Walk north on Leslie St. a couple of blocks to the restaurant. The VIVA Blue and VIVA Purple buses are very frequent buses and run every 10 to 15 minutes. The VIVA bus fare is $3.75.

Or, you can take the #90 VIVA bus from Don Mills Station, but this is very infrequent service. There is a #90 VIVA bus that leaves at 6:22 PM from Don Mills Station, but if you miss that one, you’ll be late to the dinner.

The best way to experience this Meetup is for everyone to order a dish and share dishes family style. This would mean there would be one bill per table to be evenly divided by all of those sharing. Please do not leave the event until your bill is settled. Also, please bring CASH for the food bill.

Meetup fee:
There is a $2 per person Meetup fee for this event.

Meetup Etiquette:

It was spicy. No Canadianized Chinese food at this place. It is the real deal for Szechwan cuisine. Although spicy, there are great flavour in the dishes. Nice group and conversation.

Really good. Spicy, but with layers of flavour that came through the spice.

I've heard good things about this place. Sadly, I won't be joining you as I'll be away. Enjoy the Szechuan feast, guys!
