Dinner at Allen's (cash only)

Since this is March and the month of St. Patrick’s Day, I thought it would be good to have dinner at what I consider to be the best Irish restaurant in Toronto: Allen’s. The restaurant is designed to represent classic Irish saloons and uses a lot of wood, tin ceilings, and an oak floor to give the restaurant an Irish saloon feel. We have had several Meetups at Allen’s before and the food is always excellent. As for some of the Irish dishes on the menu, here are some of the interesting Irish highlights:

WOOD SMOKED IRISH SALMON WITH GRIDDLED POTATO CAKES, SOUR CREAM AND CHIVES

DUBLIN LAMB SHANK BRAISED IN GUINNESS WITH CHAMP

OPEN-FACED OAK-SMOKED IRISH SALMON SANDWICH ON SODA BREAD WITH RED ONION AND LEMON

STEAK, CARROTS, ONIONS AND MUSHROOMS BRAISED IN GUINNESS SERVED WITH BOILED NEW POTATOES

CUMBRAE CENTRE-CUT LAMB LOIN CHOPS WITH MUSTARD-MINT SAUCE AND BAKED NAVY BEANS

ALE-BATTERED HALIBUT WITH OUR FAMOUS YUKON GOLD FRENCH FRIES

They have a lot, lot more, including a reputation for some of the best hamburgers in Toronto. They even have potatoes served eight different ways. The restaurant also has a huge beer selection, including Harp, Guinness, and their own Allen’s lager on tap. This will be a great Irish dinner.

The address of the restaurant is:
Allen’s
143 Danforth Avenue

BILLING – NO INDIVIDUAL BILLS
Please note that there are NO individual bills for this event. There will be one bill per table, which is expected to be about 8 to 10 people each. You will need to add about 30% to the menu price to cover taxes and gratuity for what you order. It will be easier if people pay cash, so please bring enough cash for the food bill. Also, please do NOT leave the restaurant until your entire table’s bill is paid.

TTC Directions:
Subway to Broadview. Then walk east on Danforth to the restaurant.

Meetup fee:
There is a $2 per person Meetup fee for this event.

Meetup Etiquette:
If you RSVP “yes” and change your mind about attending, please update your RSVP.
Those who RSVP “yes” are expected to show up.
Please be at the event on time. In situations where you are late and the restaurant is full, your seat will be given away and not held, so please be on-time.
Attendance will be taken at all events and “no shows” will be tracked.
A person may be removed from the group for repeatedly being a “no show”.
A person who changes their RSVP to “no” with less than 3 hours before the start of an event without a good reason will be considered a “no show”.
A person who just briefly shows up at the event but does not stay at the restaurant for the meal will still be considered a “no show”.

A great restaurant - I always like Allen's. I'll try and get us back there during the summer for a brunch outside. Great people at my table too.

This sounds cliché but getting to know you and your group will hopefully open new doors and create new friendships.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
