It was great fun! Lots of laughter with equal amounts of interesting, varied, and sometimes deep conversation. It's a very diverse group of ppl and I always enjoy it!

It would be nice to maybe have a potluck picnic in the summer at a park. May as well take advantage of nice weather, when we actually get it :-0

I'd also like to thank Bob for such a quick and decisive response to the creepy email some of the women received. You're awesome !!

I'm looking forward to the next meetup.

Hi Everyone. And another great coffee time was had by all! There were 16 people there, and, as usual, I have forgotten some names. However, I will, eventually, learn them. I enjoyed visiting with Brenda, Dale, Carol, Lyn, Laurel, Andrew, Peter, Bob, Hassan, Brian, Alec and the rest. We moved around a bit this time. Everyone was very gracious and fun to be with. I really enjoy seeing your picture beside your name so I can get to know you. Bernice

My first coffee was a lot of fun. I think I just got hooked on Second Cup Mochachino too.

Thanks, Bob, I, too, got the e-mail you quote below. I was shocked because I did not think this was a 'dating sight' and you say it is not. Thank you. And how shocking to find out I am not special!
Whatever, Carol, I think, Brenda meant that she and I should tease Mike. Now, I am forewarned Brenda and Carol are going to tease me. Bob, that is OK, they are friends.
Mike, this is the 3rd coffee Meetup you will have missed. We miss you.

I do not tolerate abuse. Today I received this from a member:

I got the following message from George Halleron, "Your profile is appealing..I adore and admired everything in your profile.will be glad to know more about you to see if we can go further..it will be great to know more about you. George Halleron and looking for some lovely like you. You definitely got your appearance so attracting and appealing. I guess nobody is going to skip your profile without sending you a message....... you can send me a mail om....([masked])" Apparently he sent it to a number of women in the coffee group because one responded with 'to whom are you addressing your email?' and he replied 'all of you' (roughly paraphrasing). The thread seems to have been deleted from my view but maybe it's still on yours. So a couple of thoughts:
1-Now don't I feel special. He sent an intimate note to more than one woman in the group.
2-He lied about his mistake or his intentions
    (more below)

As I said, I do not tolerate this. This person has been removed from our group and banned from rejoining.

If you ever receive an email from Meetup like the one quoted above, please inform your orgainzer immediately. We can remove and ban members, and we can send them a message at the same time, suggesting that they look somewhere other than Meetup if they are looking for a dating site. You can also report abuse directly to Meetup yourself, by addressing your email to [masked]

Here's a comment I received from Lyn, about the suggestions that have been coming in for our reorganization meeting:

What great suggestions! We used to try to rotate around the table and that's a good way to meet others. Name tags are another great idea. As for venues, I would not like to move as I value AJ's warmth and welcoming attitude. This is rare in today's commercial world. The group has blossomed in the past year and provided many helpful connections. Three of us assisted Christina with moving, some of us attend Jeffrey's and other music nights as a group and laughter and good humour are the key to long lasting friendships. Several people have come to the group looking for more than coffee and connections and not returned, but those of us who just want to build friendships have found an easy way to do so. Thanks, Lyn, for that input!

Thank you to everyone who responded to my request for your input on improving and reorganizing The Edmonton Coffee Meetup Group.

As I announced in my previous email, we will be meeting on Wednesday, May 14 at our regular Coffee Meetup. If the weather cooperates, we will meet outside, where we can hear each other better.

After the meeting, I will send everyone on my list of responders a copy of what was decided, and what will be happening next.

We are planning to hold a reorganization meeting on Wednesday, May 14 (at our regular time and place). If that is not a convenient day for you, please reply anyway. We can include you later, by email or phone.

The Edmonton Coffee Meetup Group is the longest-running Meetup group of its kind in Edmonton, and one of the oldest Meetups of any kind in this region. We were formed in 2007, and since then we have put on 176 coffee and other social events, in which many hundreds of people have taken part. Our current membership numbers over 750, of which over 460 have been active within the past year. As these numbers show, there is no doubt that this group provides a popular and valuable service for the people in our community. With your help, we can continue that service and make it even better.

So why haven’t you volunteered yet? If you want The Edmonton Coffee Meetup Group to continue, please send your reply.

    Thanks!

    Bob,
Organizer, The Edmonton Coffee Meetup Group

Hi my name is Tim, I lived in Edmonton area for a long time, but only the last year I moved into town and I have no friends. I would like to meet some new friends interested in the same sort of things I'm.

Hi Bob. I love the Meetups just the way they are: at that Second Cup and every other week and the people who attend regularly. Bernice

Subject: Help Keep Your Coffee Meetup Going

    Dear Conversation & Coffee/Tea Lover,
