Yes, this is another talk the same day as the last announcement. Adam is at noon, and at 6pm we'll have Mark Philliips presenting "Building Software Too Cool: Developer's Dream-User's Nightmare".

Description:

Developers constantly make decisions on what functionality to include in an application, what the interface should look like and what or how much technology to use. These choices have a significant impact on whether the software is used and on a developer's long-term career success. Mark will discuss the pitfalls developers often run-into in these areas and principals which can guide developers to build more successful applications.

About Mark Phillips:

Mark Phillips is the CEO and Founder of Vertabase, a leading developer of project management software established in 1997. He is a frequent speaker at ColdFusion and Adobe User Groups and has been published in C|Net and Computer World Magazine. Vertabase 4, the latest release of the software, is written in Adobe ColdFusion and uses AJAX, JavaScript and Flash Video in its interface. Vertabase 4 is available as a Software as a Service, or installable on customer servers running Microsoft IIS or Apache on Windows servers. Vertabase 4 uses a Microsoft SQL database.

As always, we do appreciate folks RSVPing (using the link on this email or at the meetup site), though it's not mandatory. BTW, no need to explain why if you can't make it. With 1,000+ members, there's really no need to explain your absence. :-) We'll also appreciate your sharing your feedback after the meeting (also offered via a follow-up email or via a link on the site).

Please note, as well, that when you use the acrobat.com (Connect) link above to view the meeting, the login screen presented there has no connection to the login information you've provided to access this meetup.com site. The two services are entirely unrelated. Please just log in with the guest account in Connect, even if you have a real connect account.

Finally, again, the recording URL will be posted on the Meetup Message Board at http://tinyurl.com/2d...

    •  The audio was a little bad, but I stayed with it and got a few tips that I can apply.
    •  Unfortunately this presentation was very very slow, very very basic, and the presenter went overboard on each slide. If I could recommend two things for the future they would be: when the meetings are described could more details be given, possibly a synopsis of what will be covered and secondly, it may not be a bad idea to rank the presentations on who the target audience should be: advanced programmers, intermediate, basic, designers, etc. Thank you for organizing these as my team finds this forum very beneficial and helpful. As coldfusion continues to grow and expand these meetings are great for expanding skill sets, networking, and having fun.
    •  It was good information, a little different than I expected though. I think he was prepared and passionate about his message, and he should be commended. Thanx, Charlie, for organizing and monitoring!
    •  Audio kept cutting in and out. Content was interesting at first but tailed off into mundane and boring. Left early.
    •  very nice guy, and gave very nice presentation. I just hope it could go more in-depth on what makes software 'cool' as titled. Or maybe some case study other than the great import/export example.
    •  I was grateful for the show-and-tell appraoch but it was too much tell and not enough show.
    •  great content, some tech issues with sound though
