We will have 2 talks for Thursday, July 17. First up we will have Bill Shelton presenting "Database Patterns for Unit Testing".

Description: (provided by the speaker)

Testing code that touches databases needs to be done, but it's hard. Databases can be large, complex, and the data can be changing frequently. To make matters worse, there are numerous vendor-specific database implementations that make it difficult to provide unified solutions to testing. In this talk, we will discuss some approaches to these challenges. We will show you how you can design your code so that you can isolate and test CF code that interacts with databases, we will show you how you can test database logic independently of your cf application, and we will discuss some Database Sandbox approaches developers can use to create a local test lab.

Speaker: (provided by the speaker)

Bill should probably be in a different line of work, like a River Keeper, however, those jobs are few and far between. So, with the advent of the WWW Bill has joined forces with like-minded misfits in the hopes of creating a cleaner/greener world of code. Is your code green today?

RECORDING: As always, the meeting will be recorded, and the recording URL will be posted after the meeting at http://recordings.col....

Looking for a Podcast or other Download of Recordings?
Unfortunately, we do not currently offer any podcast or other download of the recorded meetings. The latest version of Adobe Connect, which we just started using on May 22, does permit creation of downloadable recordings. I'll be exploring that and will announce when we can offer them.

LOGGING IN: When you login to the Connect room (the experts.acrobat.com/cfmeetup link above) to view the meeting, PLEASE USE THE "LOGIN AS GUEST" option, and use your real name, but do NOT attempt to use your meetup.com username/password. The login screen presented there has no connection to meetup.com. And if you have a real Connect account, don't use that either. Just sign in as a guest. It's just not worth the time to try to track who RSVPs and add them manually as participants in each meeting. You have no fewer features as a guest as when you would login with your own account. Thanks.

RSVP, but only if coming: As always, we do appreciate folks RSVPing if they plan to come (using the link on this email or at the meetup site), though it's not mandatory and it's not a commitment. BTW, no need to RSVP if you can't make it nor even explain why you can't. With nearly 1,500 members, there's really no reason to explain your absence. :-) We'll also appreciate your sharing your feedback after the meeting (also offered via a follow-up email or via a link on the site).

Discuss each meeting: Meetup.com now offers a meeting-specific discussion area, available on each meeting event page, in addition to the feedback feature. Please feel free to have discussions there about the meeting's topic.

Add this to your calendar: If you would like to easily add this event to your own personal calendar, please note that the page for the event offers a link (on the right) saying, "Add this meeting to your calendar", which offers links to get calendar downloads for Outlook, iCal, Google, and Yahoo calendars.
