Our 6pm (US EDT) talk on Thursday Sep 10 will be Sidney Maestre presenting , "Mango Blog Basics". This is a follow-on to his talk of a couple of weeks ago where we had some technical difficulties. He has also taken the opportunity to split the talk in two, with this basics talk and a "Mango Blog Skinning Start to Finish" to follow in a couple of weeks.

TOPIC DESCRIPTION:

Find out why Ben Forta says "Mango Blog is truly impressive". Mango Blog is an open source blogging engine. You can extend functionality through a library of plugins and customize the look through downloadable "themes" or create your own theme. I'll cover the basics of setting up a new blog, migrating from WordPress or BlogCFC. I'll review the administration tools, what plug-ins I've found useful and how to modify an existing theme to make it your own. http://www.mangoblog....

Graduating with a History degree I never thought I'd have a career in programming. I discovered ColdFusion in 1998 (version 3.1) and was immediately impressed with the power of a few simple tags. I've done consulting over the years through my company design over matter. I also worked for roundpeg consulting in 2000-2002. I joined the Bay Area ColdFusion User Group as co-manager in July 2008 and became the manager in April 2009.
