ABOUT THIS SESSION:

Our 6pm (US ET) talk on Thursday Feb 11 will be "Omniture & ColdFusion: Why you should care", with Rudi Shumpert.

TOPIC DESCRIPTION: (provided by the speaker)

So you use CF and by now you have heard about the pending purchase of Omniture by Adobe. Rudi Shumpert has been using CF to feed Omniture data and will talk to us about the array of possibilities that can be employed to track and improve applications. With everything from custom video tracking to monitoring social media relationships, Omniture can help us understand our applications and customer interactions better. We will also explore the future possibilities of tracking Flash, Flex and even AIR with the merging of Omniture and Adobe.

SPEAKER: (provided by the speaker)

Rudi is a Web Application/Analytics developer in the Atlanta, Georgia area with 14+ years of development experience. His focus is centered on building successful, robust and capable web based applications and sites/portals utilizing ColdFusion and a variety of other languages. Of late, he has become more involved with all things Analytics and has enjoyed working with the various analytic platforms.

RECORDING: As always, the meeting will be recorded, and the recording URL will be posted after the meeting at http://recordings.col....

PODCAST/DOWNLOADABLE RECORDINGS:
A downloadable FLV file will be made available after each meeting, offered as a link from the recordings page. As for creating other file formats (such as mp3, mp4, etc.), you can find discussion of the challenges creating such downloadable recordings here.

LOGGING IN: When you login to the Connect room (the experts.acrobat.com/cfmeetup link above) to view the meeting, PLEASE USE THE "LOGIN AS GUEST" option, and USE YOUR NAME, but do NOT attempt to use your meetup.com username/password or any Connect account. Just sign in as a guest.

RSVP, but only if coming: We do appreciate folks RSVPing if they plan to come (using the link on this email or at the meetup site), though it's not mandatory and it's not a commitment. But there's no need to RSVP if you can't make it let alone explain why you can't. With over 2,000 members, no worries. :-)

FEEDBACK/MEETING DISCUSSION: Members will receive an email after the meeting or can click a link on the event page to offer. Note also the meeting-specific discussion area there at the bottom, in addition to the one-chance feedback feature on the right. Feel free to engage in discussions about the meeting topic.

Thanks, fixed. He had an ampersand in his title, and that confused things in the browsers (or web server). I have changed it to "and". The link on the recordings page now works. Thanks for the heads up.

It was a very good introduction to Omniture, and how Mr. Shumpert uses it. We already use Omniture at my company, and I'll be more involved in the future with it, so this was useful for getting my feet wet. I thought he definitely covered the topic as defined by the title. It is important to track user interactions with a website, whether you've built the website as a for-profit enterprise or not, in order to respond to the most honest kind of user feedback - browsing patterns - and to use those to build improvements.
