"Building ColdFusion based Flex applications using ZoomFlex", with Grant Straker

When: Thursday, Jan 24, 12:00pm EST (GMT-5) (What time is that for you? See http://www.timeanddat... which shows it at EST, and you can choose your city from the list offered to see your time.) Meeting URL: http://experts.acroba... Duration: Approx. 1 hour Meeting will be recorded. URL will be posted after meeting on the Meetup Message Board (in the first msg, at http://tinyurl.com/2d...) We'll have two speakers on Jan 24. First up will be Grant Straker on "Building ColdFusion based Flex applications using ZoomFlex". I'll have more on the 6pm speaker later in a separate entry. Description (provided by the speaker): Attend this meetup to get a quick intro into ZoomFlex, a ColdFusion based rapid development tool for building Cairngorm based Flex applications. You will learn why the Cairngorm framework is so important in Flex development and get a clear understanding of it's main features and concepts. The session will also take you through some of the best practices with regards to buildling data driven CF / Flex application and how to leverage CF and as a server side engine for Flex applications. Speaker: Grant Straker is the founder and CEO of Straker Interactive, a ColdFusion / Flex development company based out of Auckland, New Zealand and with offices in Sydney, London and San Francisco. Straker's main product is the ShadoCMS which is an enterprise level ColdFusion based CMS for building multilingual and flex based applications. They were the first company in the world to do an OEM agreement with Adobe (then Macromedia) for both Flex(prior to open source) and ColdFusion in 2004. Notices: PLEASE NOTE: when you login to the Connect room (the experts.acrobat.com/cfmeetup link above) to view the meeting, PLEASE LOGIN AS A GUEST. Do NOT attempt to use your meetup.com username/password. The login screen presented there has no connection to meetup.com. And if you have a real Connect account, don't use that either. Just sign in as a guest. It's just not worth the time to try to track who RSVPs and add them manually as participants in each meeting. You have no fewer features as a guest as when you would login with your own account. Thanks. As always, we do appreciate folks RSVPing if they plan to come (using the link on this email or at the meetup site), though it's not mandatory and it's not a commitment. BTW, no need to RSVP if you can't make it nor even explain why you can't. With 1,300+ members, there's really no reason to explain your absence. :-) We'll also appreciate your sharing your feedback after the meeting (also offered via a follow-up email or via a link on the site). Finally, again, the recording URL will be posted on the Meetup Message Board, which can also be reached directly via http://tinyurl.com/2d...

Technical issues with the Connect meeting made it hard to follow the meeting.

It could have been Connect, or my internet connection - but the audio kept going in and out, and when it was on it was fuzzy and hard to understand, so it made it difficult to take in the content.

It would have helped if he had given an overview of his product before launching into the details. For me it was hard to understand the advantages of using ZoomFlex.
