"File processing with Directory Watcher Gateway", with Dave Ferguson

When: Thursday, Jan 31, 12:00pm EST (GMT-5) (What time is that for you? See http://www.timeanddat... which shows it at EST, and you can choose your city from the list offered to see your time.) Meeting URL: http://experts.acroba... Duration: Approx. 1 hour Meeting will be recorded. URL will be posted after meeting on the Meetup Message Board (in the first msg, at http://tinyurl.com/2d...) We'll have two speakers on Thursday, Jan 31. First up will be Dave Ferguson on "File processing with Directory Watcher Gateway". I'll have more on the 6pm speaker later in a separate entry. Description (provided by the speaker): Presentation Description: The directory watcher gateway is a very robust way to handle server side file processing. However, most ColdFusion programmers have never used it. In this presentation, we will learn how easy it is to setup a gateway and process files. We will also discuss how to troubleshoot, trap errors, and report results. Speaker: Dave has been working in information technology for almost 12 years. He has spent the majority of that time specializing in large corporate dynamic systems and large system redesigns. Dave currently holds a Master ColdFusion Developer certification as well as many other information technology certifications. In his current employ he is the technical project leader and lead developer for a enterprise wide digital asset management (DAM) system for the Walt Disney Company. He has also written a couple articles for the ColdFusion Developers Journal. He also runs his own blog where he posts little tips and tricks related to ColdFusion. Notices: PLEASE NOTE: when you login to the Connect room (the experts.acrobat.com/cfmeetup link above) to view the meeting, PLEASE LOGIN AS A GUEST. Do NOT attempt to use your meetup.com username/password. The login screen presented there has no connection to meetup.com. And if you have a real Connect account, don't use that either. Just sign in as a guest. It's just not worth the time to try to track who RSVPs and add them manually as participants in each meeting. You have no fewer features as a guest as when you would login with your own account. Thanks. As always, we do appreciate folks RSVPing if they plan to come (using the link on this email or at the meetup site), though it's not mandatory and it's not a commitment. BTW, no need to RSVP if you can't make it nor even explain why you can't. With 1,300+ members, there's really no reason to explain your absence. :-) We'll also appreciate your sharing your feedback after the meeting (also offered via a follow-up email or via a link on the site). Finally, again, the recording URL will be posted on the Meetup Message Board, which can also be reached directly via http://tinyurl.com/2d...

Now that CF8 standard has gateways, I might start using this. After watching the session I know how. This was a great topic and very well presetned.

Was good - quick and too the point - gives you enough to feel like you can go implement it right away
