A world where we enjoy life to it's full potential by being vibrant, active, healthy, engaged, alert, connected and informed to make the right choices for ourselves but also for our families, friends and communities. This includes being active enough to enjoy the positive health and social outcomes while alse eating the right foods that limit disease and are less processed, fresh and local. Our cities will provide sufficient green open space for communities to connect, be active and enjoy nature while having appropriate networks of active transport options. Females are treated with respect and have the same opportunities as men in many areas of life and there is no family violence. Local government is respected for the enormous role it plays in assisting it's local communities to lead richer lives.
I'm Manager Sport & Leisure at the City of Casey working for a better future for our current population of 280,000 growing to an ultimate population of 460,000. I'm heading our "Active Living" team to make a difference. We've been recently selected by VicHealth with a project under consideration in their Physical Activity Innovation Challenge. I'm also a volunteer sports coach for my local football club and am a board member for VicSport trying to promote local government's role in sport and active recreation. I'm also passionate about nutrition and am becoming more active in promoting a low carb high fat answer to our emerging obesity and diabetes epidemic that is set to cripple our future.
Project Wild Thing - getting kids to play more in nature and less time on their screens. White Ribbon - reducing domestic violence and addressing gender inequality. Low Carb High Fat nutritional movement to help address obesity, diabetes and many other health issues utilising the latest research findings to change our future in a positive way on a massive scale. Any physical activity activation programs to encourage more of our society to enjoy the health and social benefits of "Active Living" that includes sport, leisure and also active transport (walking/cycling as a sustainable solution to our transport issues).
I'm passionate about making a healthier, more engaged world through increased participation in physical activity and also through better, more informed nutritional choices.
