AUSTIN, TEXAS - October 5, 2009 - The Libertarian Longhorns and Young Americans for Liberty at the University of Texas have teamed up with Students For Liberty to host the 2009 Students For Liberty Texas Conference. The conference will bring together students from all across Texas and leaders of the growing liberty movement to learn from each other how best to advance the cause of liberty on campus.
The conference will be held on October 24th, 2009, at the Thompson Conference Center on the University of Texas at Austin campus. The conference will begin at 8am and conclude with a dinner at 5:30pm. Each student attendee will not only benefit from the great speakers but receive free books, t-shirts, pamphlets, and 3 free meals at the conference. "The SFL Texas Conference is a great opportunity to reach new young people and introduce them to the ideas of liberty" said Norman Horn, President of the Libertarian Longhorns. "We are bringing in top-notch speakers from across the county to share their knowledge with young activists from Texas. Our Keynote Speaker will be renowned libertarian author and Vice President of the Cato Institute Gene Healy, whose insights on the expansion of presidential power will be invaluable to all attendees."
Other speakers include Anthony Gregory of the Independent Institute and Campaign for Liberty, activist and author Mary Ruwart, Gil Guillory of the Molinari Institute, and Nigel Ashford of the Institute for Humane Studies. A panel discussion on local activism is also planned which will involve some of the most distinguished activist groups in Texas, including representatives from Texans for Accountable Government, the Libertarian Party of Texas, the Texas Public Policy Foundation, Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, and the Institute for Justice.

It is already time again for all of us to come together for our second meeting! I am very excited and thrilled that this organization has been able to go this long, and we have continued to grow. Please make plans to come out and join us to discuss future matters and learn how you can help in our cause. We will be meeting agian at the Plano Central Market off of Bush and Coit. We will start at 6 PM and go till 8:30 or 9. I will be filling in everyone that missed our introductory meeting and catching everyone up to speed regarding our prinicples and goals. I will also be having some candidates attending to speak to the organization, so make pans to attend! As many of you know, CCCM is a new organzation and we are trying to grow and sponsor new and exciting events for our members and the community. I do not feel it is right to charge monthly or yearly dues, however, ANY donations you wish to give is much appreciated!

TOWN HALL MEETING TO BE HELD MONDAY, OCTOBER 19; AGENDA TOPICS INCLUDE SCI TECH DISCOVERY CENTER, FIELDHOUSE USA & DR. PEPPER ARENA

(October 15, 2009) Don't know what's happening in Frisco city government? Now that's scary! Join us for a Town Hall meeting on Monday, October 19.

The meeting will be held in the City Hall council chambers of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, 6101 Frisco Square Boulevard. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and wraps up at 9 p.m.

The theme of the fall Town Hall meeting is "Trick or Tweet", which invites residents to follow the City of Frisco on Twitter at www.twitter.com/CityOfFriscoTX

Residents who attend the Town Hall meeting will receive a free "gadget" for your vehicle, which holds a cellular / electronic device and comes with a pen, too. Monday night, the gadgets will be filled with a couple sweets.

Learn more about county government, as well. Town Hall guest speakers include Denton County Commissioner Hugh Coleman and Collin County Commissioner Matt Shaheen.

Learn more about the Dr Pepper Arena and its new entertainment offerings since the facility was expanded. Randy Locey, VP of Business Operations, Dallas Stars, will be here to share more about the venue. Find out about another new facility scoring points with sports enthusiasts. Learn more

Everyone is "grossed out" about another new venue in Frisco. Erica Yeager will be here to tell residents more about Sci Tech Discovery Center and its inaugural exhibit in Frisco, Grossology: The Impolite Science of the Human Body. Plus, get a progress report on the Arts of Collin County
from Mike Simpson, Executive Director.

Frisco Police will brief the audience about the success of National Night Out, despite the weather. He'll also share information about the new communications tower and give a progress report on drug prevention and education programs. Plus, Frisco schools just got S.A.F.E.R. - literally. Learn more about Situational Awareness For Emergency Response. If you arrive early, beginning at 6:30 p.m., take a tour of the Frisco Fire Department's new mobile command center, which will be parked at City Hall.

Check out how Environmental Services developed a program turning gray skies into something green and Engineering Services will update residents on roadway construction and improvement projects.
