Snowshoe hike down to Fox Creek Grotto on Rock Creek from the Taylor Mtn Road in Allenspark. BRING SNOWSHOES and microspikes (traction cleats). Area has received 8-10 inches of new snow this week. We'll walk in a mile or so on a jeep road then follow a trail down a gulch to Rock Creek. Wear waterproof boots and bring at least one liter of water and snacks/lunch. Trekking/snowshoe poles, leg gaiters, sunglasses, and sunscreen also recommended.  Bring clothing to handle the predicted weather conditions and maybe a little more.  Current forecast is for mostly sunny skies, temps around 35 degrees, and wind gusts as high as 25 mph.

Disclaimer:
Hiking is risky. Every year people are hurt and killed because they go beyond their abilities, get lost, or bring the wrong gear. I normally lead hikes that I've done before. I don't do technical climbs but some of my hikes have strenuous climbs that may require using some handholds and require good physical strength and agility. I am not a professional guide. You are responsible for yourself. By signing up for this hike you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety and will do the necessary research to understand the conditions of this hike and the gear and conditioning you require.
And lastly, anyone choosing to hike with our group should carry personal medical insurance and a CORSAR (Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue) card in case of an emergency.

Perry, Do you think there will be room in the carpool?

Tom, I think there are currently six meeting in Longmont, one meeting the group in Lyons, and one meeting us at the trailhead. We'll have to have two vehicles driving to the trailhead from Lyons so you might want to meet us there, but if it's easier to meet us in Longmont, we'll take two vehicles from Longmont.

I'll meet you at the trailhead, but not sure I know where this one is at. If you could send directions or a link that would be great. Thanks!
