Crosier Mtn. Hike

Hike to the top of Crosier Mtn (9225 ft.) from the town of Glen Haven. Hike through Piper Meadows up to intersections with trails coming up from Drake. Return via the same route. Nice views of Estes Park and the RMNP peaks on the Continental Divide from the top and of the Comanche Peaks area north of RMNP from Piper Meadows.

Bring about 2 liters of water and a snack lunch to enjoy at the top. Hiking boots, trekking poles, hat, and, sunscreen recommended. Don't know how much snow and ice we'll encounter but bring your ice cleats. Current forecast for the hike area is partly sunny with temps around 40 degrees and light winds. Bring layers of clothing for the expected conditions.

Trailhead Elevation: ~7320 ft.

Max elevation: ~9225 ft.

Total climb: ~2100 ft.

Total Hike distance: About 8 miles.

Moderate pace of around 2 mph including stops, an intermediate level hike. Hike should take between between 4 and 5 hours plus a one hour drive to and from the trailhead.

Anyone who wants to meet the group in Lyons at the ParknRide, let me know in advance and be there at 8:30 am.

Please read the hike description carefully and don't sign up for the hike unless you are confident you can complete the described hike (pace, expected conditions, RT distance, total climb, and max elevation).

No dogs on this hike.

We do regrouping stops at all trail intersections.

Please be prompt so others are not kept waiting. Five minute wait for no-shows.

Please, don't show up for a hike unless your YES RSVP has been accepted for you and any guest(s) that you intend to bring with you.

Please cancel if you decide not to attend so spaces will be available for others.

Hiking is risky. Every year people are hurt and killed because they go beyond their abilities, get lost, or bring the wrong gear. I normally lead hikes that I've done before. I don't do technical climbs but some of my hikes have strenuous climbs that may require using some handholds and require good physical strength and agility. I am not a professional guide. You are responsible for yourself. By signing up for this hike you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety and will do the necessary research to understand the conditions of this hike and the gear and conditioning you require.
And lastly, anyone choosing to hike with our group should carry personal medical insurance and a CORSAR (Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue) card in case of an emergency.

I assume those meeting us at the trailhead know where the trailhead is located. If not, let me know.

If you want to meet the group at the trailhead, meet us there at 9:15 am. We should be there around that time.
