Investigation of the Gold Hill Inn!

ROAD UPDATE:  Due to recent flooding, roads into Gold Hill may be inaccessible.  Please go to for the latest road conditions BEFORE committing to this event.  Also, please call the event host to make sure this has not been cancelled due to road conditions.  Thanks!

A ten-mile drive from Boulder takes you back a hundred years to the tiny ghost town of Gold Hill, Colorado.  Throughout its long history, the Gold Hill Inn has had more than just a reputation for great food and lodging... it's also famous for its ghosts!

The history of the Gold Hill Inn dates back to 1872, when the gold craze first brought people to the hills just outside of Boulder. Originally called the Wentworth Hotel, this three-story luxury log building was constructed with the idea of attracting tourists to the town. The Wentworth Hotel hosted many famous personalities, including Clarence Darrow.

In 1920, the hotel became the Bluebird Lodge and was run as a private vacation spot for teachers and nurses from the Chicago area.  In 1962 the hotel was bought by Barbara and Frank Finn and became the Gold Hill Inn.

Eerie tales of ghosts still wandering the halls of the Gold Hill abound. The town itself is basically a ghost town, with just a few of the original buildings still surviving. Guests staying at the Gold Hill Inn report feeling a "cold breath" on their necks as they peruse the many antiquities inside the hotel, and many a guest has had to leave in the middle of the night reporting that there was someone -- or something -- standing in their room with them!

The cost of this special event is only $20! There is limited seating so contact APG today to reserve your spot for this very spooky event.  Ticket cost does not include food, lodging, or transportation.

Call Grayson at APG at (720) 237~1807 or via email at [masked], or visit their Facebook page:

This is another fantastic opportunity to participate in a professional investigation of a true Colorado legend!  Hope to see you there!

Last time I spoke with Grayson he said this event was still a go! The roads into Gold Hill appear to be open, but you might want to check in with Boulder County before you plan your trip just to make sure. Here is the website:

    • KarenK shows that the road up Sunshine Canyon is open. Not sure about getting through Boulder. Prospects look good by Mid October.
