Whole Foods vegan eating tour and dinner!

Start off the new year with a commitment to eating healthy and Vegan! This will be a tour of All Things Vegan at Whole Foods. I am working on getting samples and coupons and stuff like that. If you are new to the veg lifestyle and don't know how or what to shop for, this meetup is for you. You will be amazed at how many options abound in each aisle! And if you are a long time vegan, I bet you'll find some new vegan goodies as we scour the shelves for animal and planet friendly options.

We'll go through each department and point out all the vegan products in each section. Whole Foods lets us open whatever we want to sample so come discover a world of vegan food.

After the tour (which will be about an 1- 1.5 hours) we will grab some dinner from the great food service area that offers many vegan options and folks can ask more questions about "anything vegan". We can talk about what options there are to make quick and wholesome meals and any other questions you may have.

Let me know if you have other questions/concerns you want covered so I can be sure to bring any additional material. If you are not yet vegan be sure to  ask about the options that you  think you can' get away from.  (ice cream, cheese, grandmas cheese ladden casserole etc.)We will look at all the options and I imagine there will be people on the tour who will have the same challenges.

Hope this will be useful to folks.

peace and peas on all our plates,

Lisa

Lisa -- you are THE BEST representative of vegan eating and food preparation! That Whole Foods is incredible . . . the one near me is not anything like that at all. It will be well worth the drive to get some of the fabulous vegan items (like the ICE CREAM that is not available at the "baby" store near me).
I wanted to mention that the book called "Mad Cowboy" that you talked about at the Casa Alvarez is absolutely the most informative, GREAT book for people like me to learn how to address things non-vegan people say to me. An easy read, I got it from the library, and I learned a lot. Everyone -- if you haven't read "Mad Cowboy," it is REALLY good.

The other day I was in Sprouts and they had Almond Dream "ice cream" on sale 2 for $5! They had pretty good prices on vegan ice creams. :)

Everyone, but especially Lisa, thanks for a great time touring Whole Foods! This is definitely one vegan event during which I gained quite a lot about vegan eating and cuisines and all this happened in a surprisingly short time - the planner, conceiver and organizer of this event is simply a vegan genius, otherwise who could have thought that this is a way of teaching so much about vegan eating and cuisines at a place such a grocery store and within so little time?! And the tasty samples and generosity of Whole Foods is another remarkable and highly commendable plus to the whole affair!

Like Michelle, I can also conclude that "this was a really informative and tasty tour of Whole Foods." I am also looking forward to a vegan event like this.

My one suggestion is that the "goody bag" not contain something that should be kept frozen. By the time I got home, my bag of collard greens was defrosted, so I had to cook it.

Is it possible to come even when you're on the wait list or does Whole Foods limit the number of people?

I think I can come at this point. Learning from YOU -- the MASTER OF VEGAN -- will be extremely useful for me. Thanks for doing this.
