Meetup members Julie and Knute have graciously offered their home in the mountains for this very special gathering.
Hosts: Julie and Knute
Please join us at our mountain hideaway only 22 minutes west from downtown Boulder for a 4 th of July hike followed by a potluck dinner. We have 20 acres to explore and lots of fun activities: bocce, trampoline, ping pong, pool table, a tipi, a hot tub and lots of good bouldering rocks to explore.
Knute and I will provide three of our Holiday favorite’s corn on the cob, cold watermelon and cold beer. Please bring a dish to pass (that serves at least 8), your favorite veggie item to grill if you like, other beverages of choice, plates and utensils, and blanket or chairs for picnicking.
We will lead a hike to the top of Twin Sisters that has terrific views of the Continental Divide and Boulder Valley starting at 3:00 p.m. (hike time aprox. 1 ½ hours –moderately strenuous). Folks can bring mountain bikes too as there are lots of road and trail options to explore in the area.
Dinner will be approximately 5:00 – 5:30.
Lisa will send directions to those that RSVP as the date gets closer.
For those not familiar with Magnolia Road you are in for a treat– it is the steepest paved road in Colorado! Just take your time on the hairpin curves and enjoy the scenery! Your car will make it – you don’t need a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Just remember when you’re driving it that Knute rides his bike up all the time. Folks could car pool at the library lot or further up the Canyon in the lot where you turn left for Magnolia.
This will be a fantastic day in the mountains and with so much to play with(;
We will arrange carpools so when you RSVP please indicate if you can drive or need a ride.
I am really looking forward to this event, and thank our hosts for opening their home to our community!
