Our 4th annual Gentle Thanksgiving Celebration

Come celebrate our veg community, amazing cruelty free food and being part of something bigger then each of us on our own.

I thought the name "Gentle Thanksgiving" name taken from our friends at FARM was a most appropriate name for this annual gathering. Please promote their efforts, they have an excellent website http://www.gentlethan...

Our Gentle Thanksgiving meetup will feature cruelty free thanksgiving foods for those who have families to go back to that may not get the "vegan" thing yet. Come try some awesomely delicious plant based dishes and take home some new ideas and recipes to try out on your "other" families. (;

Sadly, every year in the US over 6 million!! turkeys are brutally slaughtered for a holiday that is supposed to symbolize our abundance and gratitude for all we have. We can (and must!) do better than this, I encourage all of you to bring your compassionate ways to your friends and families and wow them with your planet friendly creations. I will have little recipe booklets for people to take home, as well as a list of websites that have great recipes for compassionate and sustainable options to the typical slaughtered turkey centerpiece. UGH, it should be a funeral instead of a celebration. Anyway, we will show what it really means to be thankful and compassionate. If anyone wants to learn how to make main courses like the  tofu love bomb or other roasts we can do a class the day before and of the event. let me know if there is interest.

Call or email with any questions or recipe requests. Please specify what kind of dish you plan on bringing (ie. main course, appetizer, desserts etc) bring your own alcohol if you like. I'll have a few bottles of wine in addition to the tofu love bombs and some delectable desserts and beverages. We will gather at 5:30 with some appetizers and then the feast will begin promptly at 6:00. Please try to arrive on time.

Feel free to call or email if you have any questions or need directions.

As always, I am really looking forward to meeting/ reconnecting with everyone and continuing to build a great Vegan Meetup and Compassionate Community!

Lisa wink
ps- This meetup will definitely fill up so be sure to RSVP early if you want to attend.
pps- I will be asking for $3 per person to pay for renting of the room  the extra food and beverages for this special meal. If this is not affordable, call me and we can make it work.

    One of the best Boulder Meetup I've been to. Lots of great people and of course lots of great food. So much that I never did get a chance to try all of them. I've never seen so much different Vegan foods in one gathering! Great job as usual to Lisa and Travis.

    The food was great. The people were warm and friendly. I think that perhaps we should try using tables to eat at instead of holding our dishes in our lap. Otherwise it was fine. I think Lisa and Travis did a great job.

    Another perfectly orchestrated gathering by Lisa and Travis. There was an amazing array of holiday foods to choose from this year. It just seems that the group's culinary talents get better and better. It was great to catch up with old friends- and meet some new ones too! Blessings to everyone over the holiday season.

    Dana, I went to wrong place too, went to the Walnut address and so did a lot of people. For a while someone was stationed there to tell people it was the wrong location. Sorry the word was not gotten to you. I had a couple of phone numbers of people in the group in my cell,and that helped me. You might want to have a couple of phone nos. you can call w/in the group. So sorry you experienced that.

    Megan, good question even though not affected. Maybe you can bring a colored marker to add a red check mark and put in GF on it for easy see? Let's see what Lisa suggests too, but in addition the large red check mark would be easy to see!

    Will be bringing a side dish of white beans and spinach with herbs. Possibly some sort of curry bean dip as well, like others it depends on time and money! About how much do I need to make? For those of us that are gluten free as well, will we be taking care to separate GF items from the rest of the feast? Not trying to be a brat, I just got glutened yesterday and am still struggling despite lots of enzymes and probiotics and would hate to see that happen to anyone else!

    Lisa, sent over 2 emails with suggestions. Wondering if anyone has connections working in a private large school, a church, retirement center in Boulder, if so contact Lisa directly. Sharing here as maybe you didn't think of how we can bring in more people. The more the merrier.
