Announcing a new Meetup for Boulder (and Beyond !)Vegan Meetup Group!
What: Vegan Movie Night and Animal Rights/Veganism Discussion at Alan’s place
When: Saturday, May 22, 2010 5:30 PM
lafayette, CO 70501
Watch the 2009 Oscar Award winning animal activist movie “The Cove” (http://www.thecovemov...) on a widescreen, and join your fellow vegans in a thoughtful discussion after the movie on veganism and animal rights, and how best to further these objectives.
This thought provoking movie touches on important issues such as:
Cultural differences and similarities which lead to animal cruelty as well as animal activism.
What are Animal Rights and how should we humans share the planet with our fellow sentient beings?
The role humans unintentionally play in contributing to animal cruelty.
How powerful financial interest work to deceive the public to keep them ignorant of animal cruelty as well as human health concerns.
How the moral hypocrisy of non-vegan AR activist weakens the message.
How the general public relates to different species based on intelligence and physical appearance.
What is the best way to get the AR message heard?
Alan has opened his home to 15 of us who want to enjoy a potluck and watch and learn about this really important animal activist movie about the plight of Dolphins in Japan and the encouraging results a handful of concerned people can have in eradicating this injustice. There is only small amounts of animal suffering shown in the movie, which one can easily walk away from.
We will gather at 5:30, eat at 6:00 and start the 90 minute movie at 7:30 followed by a thoughtful discussion that Alan has offered to moderate.
Please bring a Vegan dish to serve 8 and your own eating ware in order to cut down on waste.
Keep in mind that this gathering is limited to 15 friends, so if you want to attend please be sure to RSVP early.
Thanks so much to Alan for organizing and offering up his home for what I think this will be a very enjoyable provocative gathering.
