Comedy Improv is fun and spontaneous AND yet there are some important skills to master. This class will focus on building on the basics, strengthening scene relationships and comedic heightening. It is preferred that a student attending the class have some prior improv class experience.
Teacher: Laurie Newkirk has taught improv classes including for organizations such as Tauck Tours and Toastmasters. Directed an improv troupe for several years that performed all over the area including several performances at Caroline’s on Broadway and The Red Room in Philadelphia. Performed as part of the improv troupe ‘Funny Side Up’. In addition, she has a Directing Certificate from Yale University, is the Artistic Director of the Acting Company of Greenwich and has directed plays Off-Broadway. The class is based on Short-Form improv and will consist of warm-ups, improv exercises and scene work with a focus on building skills. Come have fun learning, laughing and enjoying making others laugh!
The Fee for the class is $10.
Improv is great for boosting confidence, reducing stress, sharpening quick thinking and meeting new people.
Prior improv experience preferred to attend the class.
