Seed ball making

It was fun last year....

Didn't we do this last year?

Yes!

http://commgardens.me...

Time to do it again!!

Sunday Mar. 2 - 1 - 4 pm

"Seed Balls are one half inch diameter models of the living world. They can contain all the seeds for a complete habitat, for a wild or domestic garden. In a holographic way, each ball can contain the whole plant potential of the entire ecosystem. They require a fraction of the cost of planting or drilling and are hundreds of times faster. They can be made by anyone anywhere in the world where there is clay, soil, seed and water. Seed balls work on all scales, small to large, and can be air dropped over broad areas! Hundreds of kinds of mixed seeds, soil humus and dry powdered red brown clay, form the solid components of seed balls. When mixed with water and rolled into balls, they become little Adobe Gardens."

We will be supplying

Seed - Crimson clover, White dutch clover, grass seeds, wild flowers
bring your own seeds* to add to the mix.

Red Clay

Compost

Mixing bowls

You will need to bring

a container for taking your seed balls home - something like a small pizza box so that the seed balls won't be stacked too high on top of each other, they will be fragile.

At the end of the day...

You will be able to take 1/2 of the seed balls home for your own use and experimentation.
The other 1/2 will be used to populate a guerrilla garden site at a location to be determined later.

Location suggestions welcome.

Here is what we did with the seed balls last year: http://commgardens.me...

And the results of our efforts:

The cost of the workshop is $5 (which will be split between room rental fee, a portion of materials costs, and meetup website cost).

Because of space limits we have a cap of twenty people.

Attendees can also a bring container [up to 1 liter] and take some red clay home to make their own seed balls.

* Attend Seedy Saturday
http://www.semences.c...
to get some seeds. Dollar stores have cheap seeds too.

See you then....

Thanks to all for coming. We'll do it again soon. Even if you could not make it, people can help planting [throwing] the seed balls at the beginning of April. Watch the calendar for that

Lots of fun getting dirty! I liked that it wasn't too structured. Lots of good conversations.
