ABOUT: The New York Conservatives Meetup Group.

WHO: We are a group of like-minded individuals who believe in upholding American conservative values fiscally, culturally, and politically. If you are a Conservative, Libertarian, Constitution Party, Neocon, Tea Party supporter or Republican, we welcome to you join our group and attend our meetings.

WHAT: We are a political and social discussions group, not an activist group, although activist members are welcome to join our group.

WHEN: We meet monthly, usually the 3rd Friday of each month, although there are occasional monthly exceptions as posted on our Meetup page.

WHERE: Our meetup is held at a restaurant in the Theater District, near Times Square in Manhattan. We chose this location for the convenience of mass transportation for all our Tri-State members, predominately those who reside in New York City and New Jersey.

WHY: Because we are sorely outnumbered by Liberals and Democrats in our Tri-State area. This meetup is intended for us get together to discuss and find common ground with each other.

I am terribly sorry, but it looks like I am going to be unable to attend tonight. I had very much looked forward to it, but will try for next month, or sooner. Something work-related has come up, but was indefinite until this morning. (Gotta pay the rent with what is left after NYC taxes, LOL)

Divide and Conquer. What was your reaction to the Boston Bombings?

In the past 12 years we have ripped apart consensus on what is or isn't a threat, who is or isn't a terrorist, tied ourselves into knots and launched flights of fancy far over common sense ways to pursue legitimate inquiries in this country, making ourselves less safe in order to not offend people and taking away rights that make us safer while bolstering those that don't. I think the terrorists have pretty much done their job without the bloody carnage of the Marathon's tragedy. The crumbling of our consensus, will and practical strategy as a nation is the real fruit of their labors. By my lights, the horror Boston witnessed yesterday was a gruesome and evil victory lap for a deed already done.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
