Please visit http://nycir.us/sfga/ShaneKrauser/ for more detailed information on the start of tomorrow's two day workshop event. I suspect some of you are wondering 'why bother' in the aftermath of last Nov. 6.
Please consider the thoughts below from a friend who immigrated to this great nation:
I can only tell you this. I took an oath during my naturalization ceremony "...that I will support and defend the Constitution....against all enemies, foreign and domestic;...and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion"
The oath, originated at the height of the Revolutionary War in 1778, doesn't have an expiration date or release clause for those who take it. Which brings up another point. Many of us have become so accustomed to the modern conveniences and certainty of a regularly scheduled election system that we forget that those who gave us such a system had no country, government or constitution to rally to. The Founders were still British subjects who knew the consequences should their bold gamble for independence failed.
It is also a little known and appreciated fact that their venture took 10 long years and had the support of only 33% of the colonists. This is for those of you who just want to give up because you have to put up with Obama for 4 more years and subscribing to the meme served by sit-on-their-ass Conservative pundits and analysts that we'll never make a comeback because there are more takers now than there are producers. The Founders and immigrants like me do not have that luxury of such fatalism.
So dust off the wreckage of this election and gear up for 2014/2016. Get your juice tomorrow night with Shane Krauser.
