How this group works: Events:
Some events will be large cooking/potluck events, others will be small home dinner parties. We may also have get-togethers to talk about food and cooking at a public location (e.g. restaurants, coffee shops, farmer's markets). We will try to have cooking events at least monthly. Cooking event locations
: There are currently two private homes where we can have these - I am looking for others - any suggestions? I was thinking a condominium or apartment complex that has a nice club house with kitchen would be ideal. Cooking event duration:
This will vary, but total duration will be approximately 4 hours. Currently planning on having these on Sundays from 5:00 to 9:00 but this is open to discussion. Cooking event menu:
This will vary. We can have themes for some events (e.g. ethnic cuisines, just desserts, just appetizers, wine & cheese, barbecue, cooking light, vegetarian, fast/easy cooking). For full meals, we will have hors d'oeuvres, appetizer, main dish, side dish, and dessert. Come hungry! Note: We could be cooking with ingredients that you may be allergic to - it is your responsibility to inquire about ingredients and stay away from those that you cannot eat. What I will provide:
all cooking supplies, ingredients, paper & cleaning supplies, non-alcoholic beverages (soda, ice tea, water). What you might bring:
apron, alcohol for yourself and guest (someone at event might be willing to split cost of bottle of wine). Note: I do not want people getting drunk - the focus of these events is the food. I reserve the right to kick out anyone that does not behave appropriately and may take away keys of anyone that appears too intoxicated to drive. Cooking event RSVP and cost:
Since food, drinks, paper products need to be purchased in advance of event, payments must be received prior to an event. Check the fee on each listed event. You must pay this by the deadline indicated on the event posting via online payment. Only people who have paid by this time will be allowed to attend the event, unless an e-mail is sent out indicating otherwise. Responding "Yes" to RSVP will not assure that you can attend.
Events will be open until the maximum number of people have paid, so you will want to pay via PayPal as soon as possible. Refund Policy:
Payments will only be refunded if request for cancellation is received by the deadline indicated on the event posting AND purchase of food/supplies have not yet occurred. If a refund is provided, the online payment fees will be deducted from the refund.
