Real Slow Cooked BBQ Better than Phil's

I have been a professional chef in Alaska and also have helped in competition BBQ teams.
I would be happy to cook some REAL BBQ NOT PHIL's imitation stuff!!

I have done many of these in the past for the San Diego Chowhound several years ago.

We could have it at an outdoor spot such as Tidelands Park or if someone wants to post at their place that would work also.

The way I organized the parties is that I would slow cook all of the BBQ and provide the sauces.

Everyone would bring a side dish and their own beverages.

I had everyone pay in advance to cover the cost of the meats, spices, charcoal, and sauces.

It usually came to about 15-20 dollars a person.

I guarantee that after you try some real BBQ you will know that Phil is an impostor!!

Let me know if any of you are interested.

Jim was a gracious host. He told us that someone had called in reservations for 15 earlier that day; for a family-owned business, that's wonderful news. The five members who showed up enjoyed the evening and the delicious entrees.

This event was not planned very well...and, so much drama in the emails....who cares if someone used a previous email. Get over it. The organizer did not show...and, only 5 out of the 13 showed up....rude! The 5 of us that did show had a nice evening.

Whoever copied my post please remove or write your own description.
It creeps me out that someone just copied my post and used it to promote their own outing.

Sorry I can't make it but glad things cleared up despite the lack of a host. Too bad the person who suggested the place is now a former member. The drama over this event goes all the way back to 2011. Have fun and great BBQ.

I emailed Paul last night. We don't bring anything; we're just meeting at this place for dinner.

I am not sure who posted this again but I was the original one that posted it a few years ago. If I decide to have a bbq outing I will do it but please don't copy my posts!

How much is this? Is this a restaurant? Do we need to bring a side dish and beverage still?

I'm new here and anyone can explain how exactly this will work? Will I make the payment in advance to the organizer who will prepare for the food? Or just go to the restaurant and split the bill after dinner? I'm a little confused.

Jimmy's Brick Pit BBQ is just Smokin Joes with a different name. The BBQ is so-so. I'd be more interested in going to Bull's Smoking BBQ, which is much better. www.bullsSmokinBBQ.com. As far as Jimmy's goes, I'm not interested in going there again. I'll wait this one out.

could you please 'throw' some shrimp or other fish into the mix since I don't eat meat/poultry. I will be happy to bring a killer side dish!
