Because of the number of women who have been no shows and not paid in the past, ladies, if this is your first event and you RSVP, you will need to contact me if you sign up, because it may be too late to mail me a check to be received in advance of the event.  Women who no show will be removed from the group.  If you are a man, and also men and women who have previously attended an event, there is no need to pay in advance, please pay in cash when you arrive.


Photos - it states in the description when you signed up for the group that the photo has to be a photo of yourself. Please do not sign up if you have not posted a real photo of yourself - (Jim, no worries, your photo is great).

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28, 5:00 – 8:00 $30 –We’re all cooking together for about two hours!
Time – you can arrive as early as 4:30!! Remember if you arrive an hour late, like 6:00, you won’t be able to help as much with the cooking!!

Location: My home near Yale & Wadsworth. Directions will be emailed to those who sign up.

This is a light-hearted, joking around, joyful event for people who take cooking seriously.
There will be an ice-breaker so we get to know each other.

Read these (2 ITEMS) first – menu is below:

1 Attendance: Those who have attended any of the events realize that the expense of this event and time it takes to prepare means the people who participate are the type of individuals you can count on. If you have paid in advance, there are no refunds if you don't show up.

2 Conversation: Lot of time to talk in small groups during food preparation, more private one-to-one conversations if two guests wish to go out on the balcony which is fine! and the group conversation during dinner. The cooking event is not for people who come to talk excessively or dominate the conversation. Everyone has important things to talk about and share. I will ensure that the conversation is even and the guest who might be quieter in a crowd, gets to talk as much as anyone else.

New England Clam Chowder – Skipjack’s in Boston


Fusilli with Shrimp and Paneed Chicken – Gabrielle Restaurant in New Orleans


Sophisticated Succotash – a Bon Appetit recipe with fresh broccoli, fresh carrots, fresh red bell peppers, fresh yellow squash and frozen organic lima beans and spices


Garlic Bread – Gourmet Magazine, we are purchasing the bread but adding all the good stuff (butter, garlic, and more) ourselves!

One glass of wine please, (it's not a big drinking event)

Please note - I really want stuff in the dishwasher. The stuff that is hand washed are the big pots and pans. The dishwasher is more sanitary for all the little items, silverware, and glasses. I don’t mind running the dishwasher multiple times for the event. When people hand wash a ton of stuff and lay in on the counter (takes up space!) and then ask me during the event where it goes and to put it away, I don’t want to do that during the event. So load dishwasher, rinse & stack if you must in a far away corner.

THE EVENT IS LIMITED TO 5 MEN AND 5 WOMEN.
I am a volunteer and participate like everyone else and do this for the fun and joy of cooking and spending time with cooking friends. I spend more than I take in for the groceries and buy the best ingredients. If you want to know how much I spend for an event or for the meetup website ($144 a year) just ask, I track the expenses.

First time guests NEED TO SIGN GROUND RULES (Below) THAT YOU AGREE TO HELP WITH DISHES (I'll provide you a copy of the ground rules when you arrive, please just read them for now).

COOKING PARTY GROUND RULES
DISHES: Cleanup takes less than 30 minutes after dinner because everyone helps with cleanup and dishes so the kitchen is left tidy after the event. Everything but the pots and pans go in the dishwasher, all glassware including wine glasses go in the dishwasher, and we run a fast dishwasher load during dinner so cleanup isn’t too bad because everyone pitches in. When you finish your recipe prep, put your equipment in the dishwasher or in the sink.
AFTER DINNER CLEANUP: wash and dry large pans (take turns), load dishwasher, wipe off counters, put away the leaf in the table, drain dishwater, someone be a good egg and take out the trash.
PRACTICE HELPFUL GROUP BEHAVIOR: If you have downtime on your recipe, ask if other teams need any help.
WASH HANDS: at start of event and throughout the cooking process. Cooking sanitation class teaches that every time we touch anything (move a chair/shake a hand) and we are going to touch food, we should rewash our hands.
I agree to these ground rules. I am participating at my own risk and will not sue Diana Ohlsson. I understand that burns, allergic reactions or mishaps that I cause or incur will be my responsibility.
