Dette indl?g (og sikkert ogs? andre jeg har skrevet tidligere) handler
ikke direkte om PHP, men vi udviklere har det jo med ogs? at snavse
vores fingre til i andet web-relateret, s? jeg h?ber det er ok, ellers
m? I sige til.

Chefen har givet mig til opgave at udvikle en chat. Jeg har aldrig selv
udviklet eller arbejdet med chat software, men jeg ved at den i hvert
fald IKKE skal v?re baseret p? en database og http kald til serveren med
ultrakorte intervaller.

Jeg sidder i disse dag og kigger p? APE (Ajax Push Engine):

Det er jo enhver webudviklers v?de dr?m at kunne kontakte klienten n?r
der er nyt at 'fort?lle'. Frem for den metode vi er van til hvor
serveren p?nt m? vente p? at klienten f?r lyst til at kommunikere.

De fort?ller ogs? at APE har et meget lille hukommelsesforbrug og at ?n
server kan servicere[masked] brugere...

Umiddelbart virker det jo som om at dette er vejen at g?, men jeg kunne
godt t?nke mig at h?re fra andre i dette forum der arbejder med web
services hvor det er vigtigt at klienten hele tiden holdes opdateret...
hvad kalder man den slags? realtids-applikationer?

Hvilke teknologier bruger I, og hvorfor?
