I enjoy cooking and having a cocktail or two, so I figured there were like minded folks who would be interested in a cooking club.  And delicious food that is also light, what could be better. :D An interest in cooking is a must!

Cooking Light is a magazine with the philosophy that food can be lower in fat and calories and still be tasty.  You don't have to cook from the magazine, but you must follow the philosophy and cook food in a more healthy way.

We will meet once a month rotating whose house we go to for dinner. The second Saturday of the month.

Host determines the theme and provides the entrée and cocktail, the rest sign up for appetizer, salad, side, dessert (or possibly even soup, starter, cheese or palate cleanser). All items must be home made. Yep, that means if you are bringing bread . . . expect to make it!  Of course if a course does not lend itself to being homemade (such as a cheese course), you would purchase the item but you would try to find something interesting and unique to purchase. And you would consider what to pair it with such as a homemade tapenade . . . for example.  Or be creative with your interpretation of a cheese course and create a dish with primarily cheese.

So an interest in cooking is necessary to be part of this group.  And since we are a cooking club not a themed potluck/party club, effort should be made to extend yourself in cooking interesting, unique, upscale or gourmet items.

Since this will be a dinner party, the number of folks who can attend will be based upon what that month's host can accommodate in a casual sit down setting.

And because of this limitation, an RSVP of "Yes" is a firm commitment to attend.  Since you will be providing part of the dinner and possibly will be preventing another person from attending.  Any cancellation (other than an emergency) within 7 days of the dinner event, unfortunately, will necessitate my cancelling your membership to this meetup group.

Additionally, most events will allow one guest.  There will be some events due to the # the host will accommodate at which no guests will be permitted.  And if there are members wishing to attend who are unable to do so because of guests, then some guests may be "bumped".

Please note:  Guests who are NOT spouses / significant others (i.e. long term relationships) must bring a homemade dishIn other words, if you bring a friend or a date, yup, they have to bring their own homemade dish.

Singles or couples, over the age of 30, in Corona or nearby communities are welcome to join.  Since part of the membership will be hosting at your house, we need members to be within reasonable driving distance of Corona.

Family friendly events will not be held as part of this group.  All guests need to be over 21 and all members should be over 30.
