The Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining Company and the Southern Teller County Focus Group have arranged for us to have our own tour of the active Cresson Mine.
We will meet at the Safeway on 32nd and Colorado at 8 a.m. to carpool to Victor. Those wishing to drive themselves need to meet us at the Victor Lowell Thomas Museum on the corner of 3rd Street and Victor Avenue by 9:30 a.m. to watch a safety video and sign release forms.
Tour vans will depart from the museum at 10 a.m. sharp. No private vehicles will be allowed on CC&V property, so everyone must ride in the vans. There is limited space in the vans, so large bags and tripods will not be allowed. Bring only the things you need, and make sure any bag you carry can fit comfortably on your lap without interfering with the seat belts.
All money collected goes to support the Victor Lowell Thomas Museum and to cover PayPal fees. Refunds will only be given if the tour is cancelled.
RSVPs for will close two weeks prior to this event because payment needs to be made in advance to reserve the vans. If all seats are not sold by that time, the tour will be opened to the general public.
Some of us will stay in Victor afterwards for lunch and to wander around town. Victor is a great place to photograph.
Here are the rules set by CC&V and the STCFG:
All tour participants must sign a release form; parents of children under 18 must sign the release form for the children.
o No children under 5 are allowed on tours.
o Tour participants must wear closed toe shoes (no sandals allowed) and will be required to wear hardhats and safety glasses provided by CC&V.
o If any participant on the tour becomes unruly or fails to comply with directions from the tour guide or other CC&V Team Member, the tour will terminate and all participants will promptly leave CC&V's property.
o No tripods or large bags of equipment may be brought with; anything that interferes with the seat belts required on the vans will be required to be left at the museum.
o Stops will be made for photos but the length of stops will be determined by the tour guide and cannot hamper the usual course of the two-hour tour.
