I am an enthusiast / amateur. I have taken a few courses and such over the years, but have been mostly self-taught in the art of photography. I consider myself to be fairly competent with natural light and composition, but unskilled in flash or strobist techniques. I have become fairly adept at post-processing, mostly by trying and (re-trying) processes I have seen on the web.
Landscape and nature photography is my primary interest. I have a growing interest in Nightscapes, which I find especially challenging. Would be interested in sports photography as well.
I would be open to almost anything, including studio & flash photography, post-processing tips and techniques as well as techniques to use while "in the field." I just started shooting RAW a little over a year ago, and this year I made the change to start shooting primarily in MANUAL mode. Both of these changes caused a certain level of growth, and I am better for them today. Any classes or events that would result in similar growth would interest me.
I tend to disappear into the mountains with my camera from time to time, so trips of that sort would be right up my alley. But frankly, I would be open to trips that put me outside my comfort zone and challenge me to come back with creative shots. Doing an urban photowalk for example, is something I would likely attend, as it would push me to learn and grow.
I largely use MPix.com for printing.
My family and I moved to Colorado Springs in 2009. I am a 10 yr veteran of the Air Force and have spent the civilian portion of my career in Information Technology. I have had a lifelong interest in photography which has flourished in the last 5 yrs.
