I consider myself to be an advanced amatuer, although I've been into photography for many years. Years ago I took a few 101and 200 level college courses in basic photography, composition, and an emphasis on using the darkroom. About a decade ago I gave up shooting with film, mostly because my job(s) didn't leave me with much time to pursue photography, but also I was awaiting the coming-of-age of the digital cameras. After putting off the decision for a few years, I finally b ought my first DSLR in 2009, a Nikon D-90. I now also have a D-7000 and an assortment of lenses and paraphanalia.
Mostly landscape and scenery in nature, some macro, but have an interest in studio shooting, portraiture and candids.
Photoshop, studio lighting, starting a photo business.
Hikes or trips to spots of visual interest, both rural and urban, or in the wild. Model shoots.
Rarely print, but am interested in knowing what are the best places locally.
I'm a relative newcomer to the Colorado Springs area, having retired from NASA in 2010 and we settled here last year.
A terrific group with lots of good opportunities for learning and advancing in photography.
