So we've been talking about how we have entirely too many meetups in East London (not that there's anything wrong with that). Had to cancel Brighton for reasons I won't bore you with, so I figured I might as well use that free spot to show you all around my 'hood (I totally can pull off 'hood. If you catch me calling is Sarf London though, do feel free to kick me).
So. Brixton. Less with the hipsters but certainly not lacking in 'interesting' characters, and offering a surprisingly good selection of good beer pubs. I ought to know, I practically live in them. ;-)
Kick off point is the lovely Crown & Anchor pub, with a good range of craft beer (and ales, if that's your preference) and mouth-wateringly delicious food. (http://www.crownandanchorbrixton.co.uk)
After that and very much WEATHER DEPENDENT (ah, England!), I suggest we pop into the Duke of Edinburgh (http://dukeofedinburghpub.com/). Their tap selection is so and so, but they have the most awesome/massive beer garden.
And of course it would be criminal (CRIMINAL) not to check out the Brixton Craft Beer Co pub, aka the very first craft beer place I visited when I was but a young wide eyed Guiness drinker (well. One out of three ain't bad), so I'm not sure whether gratefulness or blame are in order.
Depending how upright people are after that, we could always head at the Effra Social if people fancy (http://effrasocial.com/). Very few taps but a fairly bitchin' massive venue (fun fact. Former conservatives' club. Looks like the unholy child of a working men's club and school hall) with some bonus possibility of dancing. Again, very dependent on number of beers had. ;-)
