Creative in Nature at McKinney Falls

Let's return to McKinney Falls. We were last there in November 2009. The entrance fee is now $5 per person 13 and older. We'll meet at 9am, hike between 1 and 3 miles (!), and finish around noon. Then we'll got to lunch at El Jacalito (located at 2030 E Oltorf St), where we usually get serenaded.  Note that this is McKinney Falls, NOT McKinney Roughs! Don't go to the wrong place! Also note that the clocks fall back an hour Saturday night, so don't arrive an hour too early.

We will meet at the Smith Visitor Center. The entrance to the park is on McKinney Falls Road, fittingly enough. After paying at the entrance station, proceed down the road and take the second right. The visitor center will soon appear on the right. Take another right to park in the building's parking lot.

Newcomers, here's how the outings works. We walk into nature and have either one long creative stop or two short ones. BOREDOM IS NOT ALLOWED. Be prepared to happily entertain yourself for however long we take. Also, TALKING IS NOT ALLOWED during the creative breaks, except for niceties and necessities. That way people can enjoy the nature and focus on their creations. After each break we'll gather again to share our creations. We do plenty of talking outside the breaks.

I'll see you creative types at McKinney Falls!

Really enjoyed the park and the people. But I was disappointed in the lack of creative breaks. Still nice to get out and exercise!

Yay rain!!! The rain is likely to come and go, and it's possible that it'll stop raining by the time the hike starts, so the hike is still on.

I keep forgetting to post the length of the hike! There's lots of stuff we could be doing there, so I want to play it by ear. We might hike 1 mile, or we might hike 3 miles. If it's cold, we'll hike longer. If it's gorgeous, we might take longer breaks at some interesting spots.
