Saturday Night, Downtown Photo Walk - the Alley Edition!

  • Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum

215 So. Tejon St., Colorado Springs, CO (map)

    38.830902 -104.823660

  • If you couldn't make the 9/7 edition, or just wanna go again!  Let's cruise downtown and do some street photography, capturing the people and sights of Colorado Springs at night.  I'm thinking for this one we might focus more on the alleyways, getting some cool shots off the beaten path.

Not a class, just a fun outing. No set end time; people can just peel off whenever they need to leave. We'll meet up in front of the Pioneer Museum and head out from there.

If you RSVP, but later find you can't make it, please be sure to change your RSVP so I have an accurate idea of how many people to expect.

    Hey All,

Just a quick heads-up: Please keep an eye on your email and/or the Meetup entry on the website. I'll be making a decision by 3pm tomorrow on whether or not the meetup will proceed as scheduled, given our current weather situation (as it's forecasted to continue through the weekend). I had to spend the night away from home last night due to closed roads, and want to avoid a repeat if I can, so if the weather's looking pretty iffy and likely that Manitou could be closed off again, I'll be rescheduling the meetup for another date. Plus, my experience is that when it rains/snows, more people tend to no-show.

I'll post/send an update regardless, so just stay tuned.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Pretty much - look for the group of people wielding big cameras in front of the Pioneer Museum. :) We'll meet right by the front stairs on the Tejon side.

We hope you do this again soon, as we had to bow out of this one, due to a change in schedule. Looking forward to next time immeasurably.

Ryan, having never done any night-time street photo shoot, is it advisable to bring a tripod? I'm leaning against bring the tripod at this time. Please advise. Thanks.

It all depends on what you're doing and what your equipment capabilities are. If you have a fast lens and high-ISO capable camera, you don't really need one if you're going to primarily be doing people/candid shots. However, if your equipment spec is a little lower, and/or you want to setup for some nice landscape type shots, then you may want to bring it. I didn't bring mine last time, but a few other people did.

Thanks David and Ryan. I may just bring the tripod and leave it in the car until I see the need to use it. I have a fast prime lens I was planning on using and high ISO camera. Thanks for organizing the photo shoot. I'm really looking forward to it.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
