CSCPG Photographer Style Shoot Out...part II!

  • Nov 4, 2012 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Who: 3 Photographers

What: 15 minutes to shoot a surprise subject that they don't know about until a few minutes before they shoot. ~30 minutes to process the image.

When: November 4, 2012

Where: Partners in Housing

So following in the tradition of GPP's (Gulf Photo Plus) shoot out. We're having our second shoot out. Our first shoot out took place on November 13th with Simone, Charlie, Karen and myself as the photographers shooting it out.

For this shoot out we have Simone returning to shoot it out with Jennifer Duval and Charlie our local cat wrangler. You can check out some of their work at the links below:

Simone: http://www.simonevision.com/

Jennifer: http://www.duvaldigital.com/

Charlie (Cat Wrangler)

This is not a competition. It's a chance for you to see how other photographers think, shoot and to see their end product.

You can expect this to last about 2 hours depending on how much we talk and if we don't encounter any technical difficulties.

If you are interested in participating in the next shoot out then please send me an email or leave a comment with some contact info. I'll put you on the list and when it comes time for the next shoot out, we'll get in touch with you. :)

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

This meetup was a lot of fun. It was good to hear the thought process behind the photographer's choices.

Great Meetup! I liked the playful framework coupled with the seriously good insights from our exemplar photogs! However, if I'm lucky enough to attend another one, count on me heckling the photog on stage a bit more than I did this time! :) Bottom line: fun & informative. Really glad I was able to attend.

Ok, confused... how are we processing this to show our final? is there a laptop, w/ Photoshop being brought, shared? I have never been to this kind of event before, sounding like the newbie I am.....

      Keri:

You aren't processing anything. There will be 3 pre-chosen photographers that will be shooting (they're listed above in the description). They'll get to shoot for 15 minutes. Once they're done, they'll get to process their images for 15-30 minutes while the other photographers are shooting or presenting their images.

Keri: only 3 people will photograph. As an attendee you only watch us to think out loud, set up the lights (if needed) and process. The 3 photographers shooting will bring their own laptops to show you how we edit our picked images. The attendees only watch, they don't photograph and don't process images. The event is not a competition, just a way to show how 3 different people with the same subject and same equipment produce different images.

      Oh! Gotcha. Thanks!

John: It depends on the photographers. There won't be a specific type of processing or specific program that they'll be using. They'll just get a chance to process their images before presenting their final product.

count me in for the next one!!

It would also be interesting to have someone capture video (no need to be all fancy), and post on vimeo/youtube!
