Using only old t-shirts, you can custom make a scarf-necklace that will match any outfit and take you through any season. Wear it doubled for warmth and long for summer days. You can even make bracelets to match!
Construction techniques will be taught for simple necklaces and more advanced techniques for adding printed designs.
Class fee: $15, includes all materials. Pre-registration is required.
Class date and time: Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2-4pm
Requirements: One or more t-shirts without side seams. T-shirts with side seams will not work for this technique!
Instructor Bio: Ms. Swarthout recently moved to Pittsburgh from Los Angeles where she was the Director of the Children’s Arts Institute – an arts training program for young people. Original trained as a theatre artist, Susan has acted, directed, produced and served as Executive Director for several performing arts venues including the Discovery Theater at the Smithsonian Institution. Currently Ms. Swarthout works as a fiber artist, selling her wares on Etsy and at local craft fairs and teaching classes for young people and adults.
