"Once upon a time, in an attic high, high above Construction Junction, a small non-profit experiment was born. The Old Creative Reuse Shop in the Attic
It was dirty. It was scrappy.
It was Creative Reuse.
Together, we suffered through the incredible heat of the summers and the unbelievable chill of the winters. Together, we felt the rain drops that snuck through the holes in the ceiling and together, we unknowingly smeared attic dirt across our foreheads day after day.
And yet, together, we learned how to run a shop, and how to create an environment of creative joy despite so many structural strains. We made magic: we all made Creative Reuse.
For every hour a staff member stayed after their workday to build new shelves, or fix the leaks, or figure out the nonsensical electrical wiring, a customer took a chance by climbing the long, dark, creaking staircase to The Top.
For every cut, bruise, and mystery insect bite endured by a volunteer, a customer bought something from us that they were planning to buy from a chain art store, or that they could never have found anywhere else.
And for every box of malaria slides we encountered (which was only one -- don't ask), one hundred customers told a friend about the weird art place they found in Construction Junction.
Since then, our customers, volunteers, donors, staff, and friends have multiplied and become the community we now call Creative Reuse. We are so proud of what we have all accomplished from such quaint beginnings.
Now, we are inviting just 20 Creative Reuse fans to join us as we celebrate the very last hours we will ever have in that old, dusty, fateful attic space.
There's still stuff up there; yes, good, useful stuff that will spark your memories of the Dirty Old Days of Creative Reuse. Bring your own bags and take away as many memories as you can stuff in. And by memories, we mean: paper, surprises, craft kits, binders, vinyl records, bulk materials, and hidden donkeys attached to PCCR gift certificates for you to find. It is going to be an epic 30 minutes of your time.
Join us in one of two sessions of raw, dirty, fill-as-many-bags-as-you-wish attic delight. We'll provide the gloves and masks.
