Monthly Social, First Sundays

Our regular meetup on the first Sunday of every month! It's a great mixer for new and old (I mean "experienced") Critical Thinkers, a.k.a. FACTSters. Count on craft beers and ciders, traditional bar food, and a few untraditional dishes. Kids are welcome, but the atmosphere is a little bit more bar than restaurant. As the evening progresses, things can get loud.

When you enter Oblivion, look to the left. We are sitting at the tables placed end-to-end. Feel free to change seats occasionally- the staff is good at keeping up with us. But do not displease the great flying spaghetti monster by forgetting your sense of humor. Thanks to Joseph for starting this monthly tradition!

I totally forgot about this several months in a row. Can someone text me to remind me next time? Sundays get away from me. Sorry!

I hope to see you next time! :-)

Meetup.com has a solution. Start by going to the "My Profile" menu above, then click on "Email and Notifications". I set mine up so I get a text message from meetup a few hours before any FACTS event to which I've RSVP'ed yes, replete with location address. It's very convenient!

Are you really going to meet at Oblivion and hang and discuss atheism? I dig it. Just seems weird to me cause I'm new to meetup.

Sandi means... highly unlikely to try to talk you into going to church! Church can be a regular topic of conversation if you want it to be. Religion and personal belief- they are the ice breakers. Conversations morph into discussions about science/ culture/ education/ philosophy/anything. I LOVE that!

Tipping the wait staff... Would that be the equivalent of putting something in the collection plate?

Well, the parish doesn't have to pay taxes on the money you didn't put in the collection plate. Heck, they don't even have to pay taxes on the money that you DO give.

Nice gathering, but it was a little challenging to hear what the persons near me were saying because of the noise level. Just the same, this seems to be a nice group of intelligent people with a variety of interests. Glad Arthur & I attended.

I can give you or any one else a ride, no problem.

Sorry - Inbound Lynx bus system on Colonial stops running at approximately 8:00pm on Sundays, making these meetings improbable for me unless I taxi home or get ride back to SODO (South Orange and Michigan).

And don't forget to tip the wait staff; gives a wrong impression about atheists.

    May 31, 2014

  • Gary R.

I'm really looking forward to this! I don't really know, personally, any other atheists so this should be fun.

How can I schedule a meetup for this Saturday to see the XMen?

Try clicking on "schedule a meetup" on the homepage for FACTS on the meetup website. When two other people sign up, I believe the meetup event gets posted as an upcoming event.
