I would answer your post with your beautiful quotation
from Lovecraft; but, I seem to be having some kind of
'malfunction' of the computer or Internet.
I'm going to use the links that you found and try to read
some of the shorter material. The quotation that you
provided gives new life to the stale title of 'Atheist'.
Add to this the latest articles written about Julian Jaynes
and his book, "The Rise of Consciousness in the Down Fall
of the Bicameral Mind", and I can see an alternative way
for the start of 'Why we believe in God's' or 'Why God
spoke to us in the past; but, won't speak to us now'.
Or we could even say, 'God only speaks to us now,
through people that we lock up in hospitals'.
God spoke to me once; but, there wasn't any money in
it, so, I didn't pursue it.
Thanks for the material that you have uncovered.
