guys, you should all reply, at least with an intro, to the "Calling All Fixies" discussion. we are trying to get a head-count of all fixed gear riders in Miami and Broward in order to get a good group gathered to shoot the sh!t soon.

I'm in the process of redoing/updating my fixed gear conversion bike. Waiting for return from painter then ordering cranks etc, then assembly.
Will be very interested in group rides with other fixed gear riders.

this is obviously an old post, but i found it in a search so i figured i'd give some updated information.

Since 2008 some bike shops in Miami have been catering to fixed gear cyclists.
Kierin in south beach on 9th between collins and ocean? collins and washington? one of the two
it's all fixed gear at kierin

A1 scoot skate and bike on 18th and biscayne can also handle fixed gear bicycles

I recently found www.bikesomewhere.com is local and they welcome local pick up. Located in the Grove.

Found an ON Guard 5013tc lock on Amazon, they had the lowest price by far and was about to place an order when I checked their website and noticed their contact us address was local.

Went over after calling them, paid the online price + tax!

If youre still looking for a wheelset and dont mind ordering online, theres always this. I got a similar setup on my bike and its nice. Nothing special but the rims are a bit aero and tough as nails.

I do most of my own bike repairs / upgrades.
However, I have used Mauricio from Andante Bikes for many years and have found him reliable, resourceful and price competitive.
He converted for me an old Bridgestone MTB to fixed gear very elegantly and w a low cost.

Andante's contact information is:

Thanks for bringing this message back up. I see that there was some discussion about local powdercoating specialists, does anyone have any personal experience with getting frames coated?

I'm a new rider in Miami who has done some rides with enthusiast friends in Tampa... I had a friend who was helping me convert my road into a fixed-gear, but we only got so far until I had to come back to Miami. How prevalent are fixed-gears and where is the best bike shop to get a fixie wheel set?
See you Saturday
